6sp AWD Grand Prix.....

Don't you wish GM made a 6spd AWD GXP Grand Prix. That would be really sweet with the LS4.

Yes, mid-lux/W should have been AWD optional.

Re: 6sp AWD Grand Prix.....

The funny thing is that the W-body had a manual trans back in the early 90's that was in the Lumina and Cutlass Supreme. I believe you could get it with the 3.4 DOCH motor, or with the 4 banger models. GM discontinued it because nobody bought it.

I think there is a very limited market for FWD manual trans family cars. You have to have a sporty car to put them in(which the early 90's W-car wasn't IMO), and you have to market them as sporty cars with an optional manual trans. Seems like every ad I read for an Altima or Maxima makes mention of the 6 speed with the 260hp V6.

Re: 6sp AWD Grand Prix.....

That would be a fantastic setup.

Heck, it'd be great if they just started with just the AWD alone.... but AWD AND a 6-speed would be great!

Re: 6sp AWD Grand Prix.....

problem is that if GM started development on that today it wouldn't be on the road until the year 2032

Limited market or not, it hasn't stopped the competition from offering manuals in their sporty sedans. Look at the Acura TSX, TL, Maxima, Altima, Accord v6, Mazdaspeed6, Legacy GT, and the upcoming SVT fusion and v6 Camry.

I don't like the idea of an Impala SS and Malibu SS coming in auto ONLY. Same goes for the Chrysler LX Hemi cars.

Accord V6 sedan doesn't come with a manual...booo! Guess you could include BMW and Audi as well.

The Camry doesn't offer a manual and V6, but does offer a 4 banger with the manual.

Don't mind the automatic (though I do prefer the manual), but I do mind the FWD that is currently all that is offered. AWD would be a marked improvement, though being the old school fool that I am, I'd still prefer to drive only the correct pair of wheels, thank you very much.

Yeah I know, AWD drive would be so kicking!

I’ve learned to deal with the FWD. Its not so bad, just cant do the smoky burn outs anymore. But man I sure do miss my manual gear shift. Past the LS4 I’d even love to drive my 240hp blown 6-banger GTP with a 6 speed.

Anyone know a M5/M6 tranny I can swap into my car?
