Yea, who needs a well equiped decently priced RWD/AWD V8 sedan from Cry./Dodge when you can walk into your Chevy/Pontiac/Buick dealer and pick up a 35K fwd sedan!

Because the little quip underneath the picture states that costs to produce this vehicle are very competitive, meaning low.

And note the
at the end of the post. Sorry if my expression of opinion about the LX cars offended you. I guess it was unavoidable; the LX cars seem to be godlike in the eyes of many 5th Gen/Future forum contributors.

I wasnt offended. You made a comment so I made a comment. Looks grow on people. I remember people saying the Caprice based Impalas looked like Shamoo the killer whale! But a few years later it was liked by thoes same people.
so it's going from 4200 lbs to 4600 lbs??
every auto maker seems to be in love with making heavier and heavier cars (with the attendant gas mileage)...i just don't get it

Re: 6 more inches of the 300
This is probably a test car to see how the public reacted to it. Rumor has it that there is a LBW LX car in the works, and possibly will be named Imperial. The rumored engine choices are anything from the 5.7 HEMI to the Viper V10. I think they are trying to position the car to go up against some of the Cadillacs, 7 Series, and some of the other highend luxary cars.

Re: 6 more inches of the 300
Livery services are very very big out here in west coast cities, and I imagine in big east coast cities as well.
They are basically used as a on call taxi service for executives and other big wigs, where a limo simply isn't called for.
The demand for these streched cars was big enough to make Lincoln create a version "in house" for sale, and you see them everywhere in LA and San Fran.
By comparison, Cadillac isn't very visable in this market.

Re: 6 more inches of the 300
I currently work for Accubuilt and I am a lead engineer for this project. The car implements a 6 inch strech and only adds 80lbs to the car. Everyone of Accubuilts cars are certified and meet government crash and safety tests. Going any higher than 80lbs would exceed the GVW of the vehicle and place us at a huge liability risk. Most limo makers do not have thier vehicles certified and eat through brakes, wheel studs and springs in no time. Our platforms come with added safety features right from Ford and GM. Chrylser does not have any parts that "beef" up this platform and there for the max GVW is limited (hence the 80lbs). We are working with them closely to modify the parts of the platform that will accept more than a 6" strech.
These short stretch cars are tailored for executives. A chaufuer can drive them around during the day and then they can take the car home and use it for thie family. Externally it blends in and appears stock, but inside the interior is completly upgraded. There is a HUGE market right now for these vehicles and the 300C will be cheaper than the Caddy and Lincoln executive versions. Plus, this car is new and many many people have been targeted to buy this $45k to $55k car. The concept alone cost over $100k for development.
