View Poll Results: Should the 5th Gen Camaro have “wrap around” or the “quad circular” taillights?
I like the more traditional “wrap around” look. The Camaro should stay true to the majority of its history.

I think the “quad circular” look is the way of the future at Chevrolet and the Camaro should share it.

5th Gen Taillight Set up
5th Gen Taillight Set up
After looking at the thread and concept pictures posted by 90 Z28SS it seems that we are somewhat split by the taillight subject. Should we go with the wrap around / more rectangular shape taillights that the Camaro has had for more then the past 20 years and on the first gen? Or Should the Next Camaro look at some of the Second gen Camaro’s for inspiration with a quad circular Corvette type taillight set up?
I personally think with the Cobalt coming out with circular taillights in 2005 (that even Chevrolet calls quote “Corvette-inspired rear with jewel-like taillamps”), the Impala’s similar design that has been out for the last few years, the current Monte Carlo quad taillight look (even though not totally separated) and of course the Vette itself, that GM is using this set up as a trademark of the Chevrolet Brand. Just like the Bowtie. So it’s only natural that the next Camaro should share this design. I think it can be made to look very sharp and I’m willing to bet all Chevrolet cars will have this look by the end of the decade. 90 Z28SS proves that with his concept.
What do all of you think?

Yeah and I think this is a very evolutionary concept that uses those lights to still give a retro throwback without going full blown retro. And it only makes sense with the direction Chevrolet seems to be going with their fleet of cars right now.

Circular is easier to do right... and right means it has to have that look of 'try me...
... I dare you.' which of course is to scare the ricers and stangs which are pulling up to you at a light. However, you can definetly have a mean looking tailight that isnt circular, it just seems that not to many modern cars have done it.

i think the quad circles look fine. i think wrap arounds are out of style and i don't really like the 1st gen taillights, so using a modern interpretation of the 2nd gen lights is just fine, even if it does look "corvette" it did back then too. the car as a whole will have to set itself apart.
I'm all for circular taillights. Look at Ferrari; circular seems to work well within their line. Simple, effective and more important, easy to get right!
IMO, circular taillights beat the crap out of the chrome bar in terms of a corporate design theme.

i personally don't want the 5th gen looking like any other chevys
i'm getting sick of all the circle tailights, headlights, etc. being used on today's cars
it's just getting "played out" if you know what i mean
i say either do wraparounds or just tailights on the rear, but whatever you do, no circles
i think it'll look too much like every other chevy (cobalt, monte, impala) and i don't want that corporate look, like IZ28 said

I'm NOT for "wrap around" like 3rd Gen's, taking up the entire rear facia...
And I'm NOT for round lights that might be mistaken for a Vette at night from a little distance...
I would like to see a modern interpretation of the "1st Gen" rectangular-2 or 3 lens(seperations inside), maybe the "Hot-Spots" just in front of the bulbs can have a circular pattern(like LED's) that out-glows the rectangle, but the whole rectangle still glows....
Ofcourse the rectangle would be rounded at the corners, but giving reference to its begginings, without being "Retro"...
