Just an idea....it would be cool to see a collection of 5th generation drawings/models of possible 5th gen camaro's submitted by forum members. Has this already been done before?

Thats exactly what Iv been trying to do over the past 2+ years.
Its a work in progress, and I just did an overhaul last month.

Your sketches look a lot like the Cadillac CTS except more "Camaroy" (just made up that word). I remember seeing an article in GM High Tech Perf. saying that the new Camaro could possibly be built off the same Sigma platform that the CTS is being built on and your sketches puts a picture to that thought.
Here's how I'd break down the engine/trans/gear/etc. options

Base - $20,000
Engine
3800V6 (231ci) - 200-220hp
or
new Vortec I-4 (170hp) or I-5 (200hp)
Trans Options - 4L60e (3.23 rear) or 5M (3.42rear)

RS - $23,000 to $25,000
Engine
3800 (231ci) supercharged (250-275hp)
or
new Vortec I-6 (270hp)
or
4800 (283ci) LS1 (280 hp)
Trans Options - 4L60e or 5m (both w/ either 2.73 or 3.23 rear)

Z28 - $26,000 to $30,000
Engine
5000 (302ci) destroked LS1 (325hp)
or
5700 (350ci) LS1 (350hp)
Trans Options - 4L80e (3.42 rear) or 6m (3.42 or 3.73 rear)

SS - $30,000 to $35,000

These ideas are just for fun and the way I'd do it if I were put in charge. I know that most of these aren't realistic, but I like the way things used to be done back in the late 60's/very early 70's. The base car should stay about the same as it is now. The RS is just an addition that I think should come back because the current Z28 is too much car for some people. It would fit nicely into the lineup, much like the Mustang GT. The Z28 should stay right where it is (performance wise). The SS should be just that. A Super Sport. Sometimes I think Chevy has forgotten what SS stands for. Lastly, the ZL1. Need I say more. I know that it's a lot to ask, but just think about it. I think it could really compete with the Viper, 03 Cobra, etc. I also know that Chevy would dream of building it either. They'd never let anything be better than the Vette. If only Cadillac had built the Camaro. I think then it might have a chance. It seems that Cadillac is the only brand that GM will let the Vette be outdone by.

oh well, I'll stop rambling now. Sorry it's so long. I just like to think about things like this.
