5th gen Camaro SS

What do you guys think the chances are of Chevy releasing the 5th Generation Camaro in an SS model with an optional 427 like the Phase III ZL-1 cars?

chances are Looooooooooooooooooow

That would be too badass, can't have a Camaro destroy a vette out of the factory, they'd never let that happen w/the 5th gen IMO

What if Chevy made the Vette with a standard 427? I've heard that they've batted the idea around.

As far as I've heard the GenIV small block is only being developed to 6.2L. I don't see GM developing a 7.0L engine just because it equates to 427ci. They'd have to have a better reason than that.

Because they can?
Correct me if I'm wrong but we already know the GenIII can be easily stroked to 427 cid. Furthermore, isn't it also true that the the major differences between the GenIII and GenIV are the heads and DoD? (Didn't someone post recently that the GenIV 24-valve heads will fit the GenIII LS block?)

Just because GM says they're only developing the GenIV to 6.2L, doesn't mean it can't be stoked to 7.0L, nor does it mean someone else (nee HSV) won't try.

Slim and none considering the Phase III ZL-1 is a $100K supercar. I don't see GM upsetting the Vette crowd buy building a Camaro that would smoke their precious Corvette.

Thumbs down

Pretty much non-existent.

Not that it wouldn't be badass, or anything, but they just won't do it.

You're certainly right on that account. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a concept car came out. Remember the 327 concept Camaro? That thing flew and was certainly cool!

I agree the price is obscene for the Phase III cars, but they only built 34 of them. If they put the 427 into production for Corvette and Camaro, and built them in mass, the cost should come down. By the time 2007 rolls around the average car price will probably be around $50k anyway.
