5th Gen in 2007 is according to who or what?

I don't check this section very often, but I notice that people seem to be talking about a 5th gen in 2007.

I spent an hour searching for where this started, but found nothing definate.

Is it just wishful thinking, or did I miss something?

Yup, I saw that one and it makes for some interesting reading.

.........but, guionM clearly says at the beginning that:

"This is a "spectulation" thread with a difference. The speculation is based on trends and deductive evidence (NOT confidential information).... Sorry.

He does make some good points though, and I hope he's right, but is this the ONLY thing that people are using to go from "hopefully Camaro will eventually come back" to now "Camaro WILL BE BACK in 2007"??

If so, I still think it's wishful thinking.

Like I said, it IS good reasoning (if they were to use a common platform) on the year estimate IF they bring it back, but what makes anyone think that GM has any desire to bring back the F-Body in the first place?

Maybe I'm naturally a pessimist, but if this is all we have, I'll wait to hear some hints come out of GM (or someone very close to it) before I get my hopes up.

That is the same we about 99% of the people here feel. The other 1% with the inside info know all the answers but arnt talking....yet.

I've heard both ways. I remember the post by Johnny Hunkins giving the reasons that the car was dead for good, and I have heard several members saying why it is coming back. I hope it is coming back, but I am guessing it will share a platform.

I like to keep an eye in here to keep updated...but near as I can tell, the F-body is dead...but the Camaro may come back. If it does come back as guionM suggests it could(and I believe it will in 07 or 08 for other reasons) it won't be an F-body...not sure what the regal/GTO chassis will be called.

My beliefs go all the way back to about a year ago, with the discussion that anything 'camaro' or 'firebird' would be built at the St Therese facility, due to there contract, through 07. With the hints from GM insiders to - 'not to give up'- and other insiders in here I feel like it will definately be back.

I have also read several places where as the Trans Am is NOT gonna be coming back(which sucks) at all...at least in the near future. But yes I have seen alot of people stating matter of factly, that there will be an 07 Camaro...I think it is a lil premature.

The designation will be "VE"

Thanks.

jg95z28- but the talk actually started way before that...but that really added to the confidence. That was a good day.

Actually the contract is up at St Therese in '05.

Ron, if you are crusing the internet looking for some GM press release that Camaro is coming back in 2007, you're wasting your time. AND if you cruised the internet last summer looking for a GM press release stating that there would be a new Corvette coming this year, you'd be wasting your time as well. Up till just a few weeks ago, Solstice was still a "concept" with no official information on it's production. Now we discover it will be out within a year!

There are plenty of people other than me who have quite a wealth of information that short of GM going out of business, a national economic meltdown, or the sudden death or resignations of everyone from Chevrolet's General Manager Brent Dewar up to CEO Rick Wagoner, there will be a Chevrolet performance coupe within 24-36 months.

Some things ya gotta take on faith. I think one of the 1st and best places to find credible information on the future Camaro is at CamaroZ28.com's 5th gen thread (much like the proven credible information on the new Mustang has been at Blueovalnews' Mustang threads for almost 2 years now).

This thread isn't like the "lounge". "Real" people come here.

Being that the all new Holden V car replacement won't be out till 2006, the former F-body plant's contract expires in 2005, and that the performance RWD chassis is at least a year behind the Solstice (at a minimum), the summer of 2006 is indeed the absolute earliest you can expect a new Camaro.

That is assuming this RWD performance coupe program actually exists.
