Not bad.
Before people start comparing it to the F-body LS1s, the Mustang GT is taking up the mid-level position in the next Mustang's lineup. Much like that 5.3 V8 mid-grade Camaro alot of us here want.
The +/- $30K Mach1 and the $35K+ Mustang Shelby Cobra will cover the Stang's performance arena.

True, but you'd also have to point out that Z28 was the "mid-level" Camaro with an LS1 that had quite a few more ponies than 300, for about the same price as the new Mustang GT......

Well, if those numbers are correct, then they are about what was expected. I said that they would not go over 300 hp (just a feeling) and i guess they didn't.
I guess i missed the part about the Shelby name taking over the SVT name too. So does this mean that the SVT name is dead? Is it now just the name of the performance division like GMPD or PVO, where the model designations are different from the division(SS, SRT)?

Chevy seems to have SS accross the board, Dodge has SRT. It would make sense if Ford sticked with SVT accross the board as well. It'd be nice to have that uniformity if you know what i mean.
I see the shelby possibly taking the place of something like the SVT Cobra R.

Great business decision by Ford on this one. Why spend money on more power when theres virtually no competition and you still have more power than your not-so-direct competition (Like WRX, Evo, etc...) No need for the extra power when you alreaddy have a car thats going to sell like its no bodies business.
