And the REG CAB option GM has been teasing us with since the 99' gold stepside concept, 2000 black stepside with flames, and the best of all, the 02'
fleetside SS RC shown at SEMA and Woodward Dream Cruise!! One hot truck!!
GM, buyers waiting to buy this one!!

Re: 2wd Silverado SS

The Silverado SS is underpowered and overweight when lined up next to those higher-priced regular-cab trucks

Front end, generic Chevy Truck, almost too cartoony.....remake anyone?
(That's what I mean about assigning an "SS" badge to a not so Super vehicle... )

The Concept "RED" truck looks like NASCAR truck series, should've been a Colorado.

GM is once again a day late and a dollar short. If they made a regular cab, stuffed an LS in there with a six speed tranny, they would have a runaway winner. Unfrotunately, it would probably take GM five years to bring it to production after it went through commitee, marketing surveys, proxy, etc, etc. All the while DCX will bring out an SRT8 Ram, already brought out the mega cab, have an SRT10 QC etc, etc. That is why I have become a DCX man.

LS2 has not been certified for the GMT800 trucks and with the GMT900 due out soon it will probably not be. The LQ9 is a good motor and will do the job fine, I see it that way and so does Chevy-deal with it.

Re: 2wd Silverado SS

It is funny how even though it is the fastest Ext cab truck on the market everone still thinks it is slow

it will be a low 14's truck for under $30K (after rebates and what not) This truck will give LT1's a good run for the money and still be able to tow a boat, seat 5 (maybe 6), and haul 20 sheets of plywood.

It can also out run an econobox while hauling 5 people, with 10 sheets of plywood in the back, and towing a small jet ski.

Re: 2wd Silverado SS

I second what Lutz says about offering an Affordable SS instead of a super fast expensive model. I buy a truck for doing work. If I want to go fast, I'll buy a Vette, GTO, Cobalt, maybe eventually a Camaro... WTF is up peoples asses about fast trucks. Retarded if you ask me, they are not designed to be racers. I think the NasTRUCK whatever has gotten into too many peoples heads and they are very *Confused*...

I used to have the same feelings that you do....

Now, though, my view has changed... Since buidling our house, I have found that I almost HAVE to have a truck of some sort for all the stuff I need to buy and move...

That being said, not everyone wants to have two vehicles.

So.... if you like performance, but need or want a truck... vehicles like these fit the bill.

Re: 2wd Silverado SS

I agree with Darth...

We just built a house and I and putting my little beater truck to USE! My Trans Am now sits in the garage most of the time. The only one-car practical solution for me would be a "performance" truck. I need the hauling capability, but I need the HP fix as well.

I'm still waiting for the LS2 Colorado

Re: 2wd Silverado SS

Late last year, Chevy unveiled a concept truck called the Speedway at the SEMA show. It was a regular cab, short-bed model that featured plenty of styling cues from the Silverado SS and the LQ9 engine with a 2WD drivetrain. Schwegman says he’s only seen photos of the Speedway, a concept that PUTC asked in its review, “Why doesn’t the Silverado SS look like this truck?”
