The IS250 is already confirmed with 200+ hp, and the IS350 with 300+ hp (275+ tq). The IS hybrid is already confirmed although the power output has not yet been confirmed.

But a 400 horsepower 5.0L V8 IS500 could mean Lexus intends to finally compete with cars like the M3 and CTS-V.

I wouldn't put too much stock in these reports yet, but it is interesting none the less that some IS spy shots were taken at the famous Nurburgring track in Germany with a camo'd IS.

Now common sense would dictate that if they've already officially announced this car with official photos all over the place, and they've already tested the IS250 and 350 extensively quite a while back at Nurburgring... then maybe this is an additional model.

Why a performance model? Well if you look at the pic... this car obviously has some pretty serious heat extractors. The IS250 and IS350 do not have any openings on the hood whatsoever.

 

 

There was spyshots floating around of the last gen IS with some boy racer body effects and dual exhausts at Nurburgring a year ago or so. Theyve obviously thought about it before.

 

Man i really like the new IS. That hood doesnt hurt that and the 400 ponies its taming.
