Not necessarily, if people are charging mainly overnight off-peak then that will increase efficiency of the grid. Many places give discounts for off-peak electricity consumption.

And that's assuming it needs a full charge at the end of every day, including weekends.

Motor Trend pegged observed fuel economy at 126.7 MPG and using ECO mode the cost to operate was stated at $.02 per mile. The net cost to operate still appears to be less than compatible gasoline vehicle by significant margin even after figuring in the additional electricity draw.

Wonder if they will sell it here? All our wall plugs are 240v.

From memory you guys have a higher current but lower voltage. Where we have the higher voltage and lower current.
