24 hour test drive?

Just saw a GM ad for a 24 hour test drive. Pretty cool. Too bad they won't let me take a corvette on a 24 test drive. Heck, they won't even let me take one on a 30 min test drive!

Honda let me do a 24 hour test drive...that was last year too...GM late to the party again...except I know a lot more people that would rather do a 24 w/ GM than they do Honda because GM's lineup is more exciting...

when I lived back in NJ, a dealership let the guy in my friends neighborhood do a 24 hour test drive on a new vette.... and he ended up buying it..

So are all GM dealerships forced to give 24 hour test drives? Do they have 1 or 2 cars dedicated for the cause? I would hate to see a bunch of "new" cars with over a 100 miles on them cause of the testdrives...

Not all dealerships allow the 24hr test. And at least for the dealerships I have spoke to here in the OKC metro, they use program cars for the test drive. Not sure if this is a standard. I think there is limitations to how far you can travel at least if they dont use program cars. But I can still see the problem with mileage adding up if its one of those cars everyone wants to try, like the 'vet.

For people to do the 24hr test drive, you have to be 21 with a valid driver's liscence, be insured, and you should have to be preapproved for credit. Also, only certain types of GM cars are used for the program. And the Vette ain't one of em.

No, you must have approved credit. At least that's what it says in the ad.

I just wonder what are they going to do if the customer is planning to pay cash for it. Or have his/her own financing?

The idea is good, but maybe they should've made it a bit less restrictive.

I know the vet isnt available for the plan, I was just putting it out there as a generic example.

Not sure if many people know of the website but here is the link to the terms.

Thanks for the link. I remember seeing it in the ads but haven't used it since I'm not planning to buy a new GM vehicle any time soon.

Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and be a qualified buyer.
I wonder what is GM's definition of a "qualified buyer"...?

Arrow My thought was: So, what's new ?

When I was shopping for the T/a, I also looked @ Z28's.

One of the Poncho dealers and the Chevy dealer were practically begging me to take the car home, show it to the wife, yada yada yada.

The theory was that once you drive it for a while, you won't want to give it back - thus, Cha Ching ! Sold to the guy behind the wheel !

I asked the Chevy dealer if he was worried about mileage in case I did not buy it ( were I to take it ) - his response was that "It's the dealer's car, not yours or mine - you don't need to worry about that."

Hmmmm ....

Truth be told, I'd probably be driving that white '99 Z28 now iffin it had traction control !

Oh, well - my SS does.

My .02.
