2014 Focus Electric Drop $4,000 [UPDATE 3]

I wouldn't mind leasing one of these for a 2nd vehicle at that price. Once they get the range up over 150 miles I'll consider one for the wife.

Wow, all these car makers are willingly losing money on these cars. Hopefully, there is a big payoff in the long run, but man that's quite the investment.

What makes you think they are losing money? Tesla is making a profit.

The big payoff comes next time gas prices spike and you can leave the unprepared competition in your dust. Ford, is light years ahead of someone like Chrysler.

If I remember correctly the Leaf, the Volt, and the Ford EV lineup cost more for the makers to make than what they sell them for. I could be wrong though as battery tech is suppose to get cheaper. All of those cars weren't really intended to be profit makers to begin with, they were suppose to be future investment. As a transition from the gas vehicle to the electric vehicle.

Though not the exact same type of vehicle, I wonder if this will put pressure on GM to lower the price of the Volt? I know they ave rebates on the hood but lowering the MSRP makes it look like the technology cost is dropping and that they are just not just trying to clear out inventory.
