Pretty nice. Thank goodness it can still tow - Its rated 3500lbs. The lack of capability from the 2.0 ecoboost Edge and Explorer was concerning.

 

I like it. Can't wait to see the MPG numbers on the 1.6L. The tow rating is good, I am also glad the 2.0L can tow. I'm not sure what is up with those Explorer/Edge tow ratings. The 2.0L has more torque than the V6.

When does this go on sale?

 

I don't like it. Take away the blue oval and I couldn't tell you whether this was a new hyundai, kia, or a new CRV. I think the new exlporer was a home run design wise, I was hoping this would look more like a baby explorer.

 

I like it. Looks like a VW though.

 

I like it. It also has the hands free liftgate.

My wife demanded this feature on our new car. So far it's an anoyance if anything, i can't just grab the thing and open/close it swiftly, i have to hit a button and wait. So i stand there waiting 10 seconds for it to close to make sure my car is locked since i'm paranoid it won't close.

EDIT: Oh, ours isn't hands free, you have to pull the handle or hit the keyfob button. Being able to do it hands free could be helpful, for those times where you leave a store with full hands and no cart

My thoughts exactly! The current one still has some SUV look to it but the one pictured looks too hyundai sedan looking.

Its ok, but I agree it doesn't look Ford at all. Like you I was expecting a mini-Explorer, which would have been a good thing. It does look better than the new CR-V, that thing is just hideous.



The more I look at this photo, the more I am thinking this thing is uglier than a Aztek.

Why does EVERYTHING have to look and feel more car-like these days?

First, I was bitching when the Escape came out that it was FWD. Now...It doesn't even look like an SUV!!! The whole concept of this vehicle Escaped me.

 

GM was able to offer the Equinox and Terrain to satisfy both tastes. Unfortunately Ford is stuck with this.

 

I just started seeing commercials for this thing last night... I didn't realize how small it was until there was actual people next to it... THIS should have been the new Escape (technically, ford designed it, right?) Change the nose to resemble the explorer a little more, raise the greenhouse a couple inches... BAM... awesome new Escape!

There is NO WAY I would ever own that hideous thing at the top of the page, it SCREAMS "foreign."

 

Ford doesn't own Land Rover anymore.

 

The overall shape kinda reminds me of a RAV4. The rear window looks the same.
