I'd expect the n/a 3.7L to be tuned differently than 305 hp / 280 lb-ft for truck duty. Maybe they can't get the torque number up much higher than that though.

Also, I'd be surprised to see 25 mpg highway. I guess it's possible, but these big trucks have quite a bit of frontal area and relativley high drag coefficients to overcome. The smaller (but still big) Edge got 27 mpg though, so maybe a 2wd truck with some aero aids (like the XFE package from GM) could approach 25 highway.

From my recent truck research, I had heard these were ont eh way for 2011, and I guess one of the biggest complaints about the Ford's has been lack of power... so these shuold be a welcome addition.

Sadly, I have not heard anything about my probably deal-breaking lack of something equivilant to GM's Autotrac.

Wow nice. Good job Ford. Will this be the 1st time to see a DOHC line up in a full size domestic truck line?

Yep cause we all know that the valve actuation method makes or breaks a good truck line-up.

The V6-powered trucks could be the first light-duty full-size trucks to hit 25 mpg on the highway, a figure that's even better than General Motors' hybrid trucks.
Yeah, but the GM hybrids have V8s with V8 performance and V8 hauling/towing capacity. Half-assed comparisions FTL.

Actually, the GM hybrid does lose towing capacity (I think it is around 5900 lbs or so), but definitely still V8 performance.

The SVT Raptor has a 6.2L that is SOHC

All the V8's have been SOHC for years, but this is the 1st DOHC engine in the f150.

Duh! I get what you saying now, lol

Yep. Paper doesn't tell the whole story.

If you don't believe me, I have a turbo V6 car and a V8 car that weigh roughly the same and both run low-to-mid 13s. The stats are quite similar. I'll take you for a ride and show you the difference.

My guess is that the Ecoboost will be in some sort of performance applicaton like the Raptor or another SVT truck.

The Ecoboost has easily made close to 500hp on a dyno. I doubt it will have any problems with 420-450 in the correct application.

Especially without the limitation of the transmission and AWD system.

What an awesome engine that would be in all aluminum trim and pluncked down into a Mustang (well punched out to seven liters - 428 CID)
