2009 mustang spied. similar lines to Giugiaro concept?

http://www.leftlanenews.com/2007/01/...-ford-mustang/

front looks pretty huge to me...though it is just a masked version. are they really already testing these things for 2009? wonder where the camaro is at these days as far as road testing goes.

The concept is actually a highly stylized version of the next Mustang.

You should have seen the crowds at the auto show... the Guigaro concept was packed. The Shelby right behind it? Crickets were chirping.

Here are 2 pics taken back-to-back around 12:30 on Saturday:

Sorry for the distortion, guess the administrators have some kind of vBulletin plug-in which is downsizing my pics from 800 x 600.

That's because one is new and one is not.

So is the Guigario a hint at the 2009? Could it be that Ford showed them their sketches for the 2009 and Guigario did their concept off of that so Ford could hide the update in plain sight - get real world feedback?

nothing on that car is changed except for the nose and rims.I think thats a 08 refresh and not the '09 which is supposed to get all new sheetmetal.

Which are you referring to? I don't think that the Giugiaro shares a single panel with the stock 'Stang sheetmetal.

That's way more than a nose and rims...

I believe he's talking about the camo'd car.

I could see the Giugiaro concept being reminiscent to the next reskin, with the exception of the headlights, a-pillars/roofline, and trunk line/tail lights. But, I think the fenders, quarters, etc. might be a window into the future of the 'stang.

FWIW, to me, that camo'd car doesn't even look like they are trying to hide much. It may be the next 'Boss' in the old sheetmetal. It just appears to me to be a GT500-esque front fascia but with GT fogs in it, and bulging hood that they are covering.

Mmm...you dont refresh a car for '08 and then make it all new for '09.

I thought I heard that the all new car won't bow until 2010 or 2011...thus making the refresh a more distinct possibility.

Though, my info is probably old!

I wouldn't be surprised if they are just doing a GT500/original concept style front fascia for a new special edition, like the Boss. It looks like there are more slanted grille supports like the GT500 under that cover, but it still has the GT fogs. The fenders are the same as current.

No I think that's more/less correct.

looking at the camo'd car and the pictures they are comparing it too, I dont think it is that close. Look at the pictures with the arrows, stuff is moved. Or the fact that one shows a line of a wheel well and the hood. And that isnt even that close.
