2009 Camaro or 2007 Challenger

There are a lot of hints pointing to a 2007 Challenger. How many will go ahead and buy a Challenger if the Camaro is confirmed to not be available until 2 years later?

This is assuming both will have similar power and price points...

Re: 2009 Camaro or 2007 Challenger

I'm still betting on 2008 for the Challenger.

I'm also betting that if GM was going to use the words "maybe" or "depending on response" regarding the prospect of producing the new Camaro, that idea is in the toilet right now.

GM doesn't want to be seen saying they will produce the Camaro after Chrysler says they will be producing Challenger...... and vice versa.

Things will be getting extremely interesting in a couple of weeks.

BTW: I've been getting a feeling lately that the Camaro won't be as much of a "concept" as we think.

Re: 2009 Camaro or 2007 Challenger

challenger looks nice, but i'm leaning heavily towards camaro...even if it means waiting a bit longer for it.

imo, the challenger looks too big and it is when you take into account its 116" wheelbase. By comparison, the mustang is at 107.1" and GTO is at 109.8".

I'm hoping camaro will fall more inline with the mustang in terms of general size. The challenger imo is too large a coupe for my tastes. Despite its size, i'm sure the challenger will still perform well. SRT has done a hell of job with the other LX cars and all perform beautifully even with their heft/size....But it just isn't for me.

I may buy both.

Very soon, I'll be needing a 5 passenger, manual trans, V8, RWD daily driver.

And around 2010, or whenever it might be released.......I'll be buying a 5th gen Z/28.

How long will the Challenger be? I believe that the Mustang is only 8 inches shorter than the Chrysler 300, even though its wheelbase is 12 inches shorter.

Re: 2009 Camaro or 2007 Challenger

The 2007 model year introductions starts in 5 dayson 1/1/2006 and will end in Dec. 2006. (at least for new nameplates) The Challenger will not be out before 1/1/2007, so I'm with guionM that it will be a 2008

I got a feeling the real competition for my 5th gen Camaro dollars is going to be the 2008 Cadillac CTS

I'm confused. (perhaps I am mis-reading your post?)

If 5-passenger seating is on your list of requirements, that is certainly understandable... but you booted GTO for being a 2+2... what makes you feel that Camaro or Challenger (or both) will be any different?

I would assume both to be 2+2's, and if the rear-facing Camaro interior drawing is any indication, it will be a 2+2 without question.

It appears as if Challenger will be a 5 passenger coupe.

I don't want Camaro to be anything but a 2+2.

In a perfect world IMO, GTO should NOT be a 2+2.

I'm going Camaro. 1) I'm a F-body freak and 2) The Camaro should be more nimble and lighter than the Challenger
I think the Camaro will be a better all around sports car.

Boy, I sure hope so. On "paper", Challenger would appear to have a more sophisticated suspension though...especially in front.

Barring some sort of epiphany, I will never buy anything other than GM.

Re: 2009 Camaro or 2007 Challenger

Which one's going to offer the most bang for the buck?
If you can't tell me what the v8 model for each will cost and what the HP will be, what the car will weigh and what the potential HP after modding will be then how can you expect an answer.

But the question begs which one weighs less? Those LX cars aren't to light.

Going off what has been shown to the public and leaked to the public, I'd say Challenger at this point for me, but that is subject to change.

I can't imagine Challenger coming in much less than 3,900 pounds.
