this car could really use some of the stuff used on the Z06 and ZR1. Specifically the aluminum frame to drop a bunch of weight. At the pricetag it sells for, I think they can afford the better performance and fuel economy.

They shoulda saved the cash on the very ugly new fender vents and put it into the interior ....the interior needs a ground up re-do as drastic as the CTS like yesturday . The new front grill looks great though .

At the pricetag it sells for, buyers won't care about fuel economy. Better performance would be a plus, but the demographic that buys these won't use the performance the XLR already has...

I'm not in the market for anything in this price range, but can anyone point out a good reason to pick the XLR over a MB SL?

I saw a few of these when I was in the Bowling Green plant. I didn't think to mention it because I didn't think anyone would care . The most obvious change is the side vents. Some other panels are tweaked too, but not so much that you could see a drastic change.

I talked to my delivery guy about the XLR, and he says they're only running about 7 a day right now. We speculated why it didn't do better, and the answer was pretty simple, the other car in the building is too good. For the money they're asking for the XLR, you're talking Z06 cash. The LS3 vette has about 100 more hp for about 20-30 grand less. Sure some may want the panache of a Cadillac, but as it turns out, there's not many that really do.

The comments are hilarious. "Wow. That’s what I thought; if only they could lift some styling elements from the Ford Focus, then they would really be able to compete."

I would really like to see GM succeed with a car like this, but it needs a ground up redo. I thought they were killing it.

First off, the Vette and XLR are 2 very different cars. They should appeal to 2 very different people and for GM to sell both well, they need to make sure that each car is geared that way.
Someone looking at an XLR is not saying "well after this Ill go take a stroll down to Chevy". At least they shouldnt be.

Problem is, GM is treating it like that. Id even say that the new 4LT interior is AS GOOD as the XLR's with the 4LT's new stictched leather dashboard, and all the other nice things that trim has.

As a fellow mod says on GMI, Only GM can figure out a way to cut cost on a 100k car.
XLR should have the Aluminum frame. XLR sells in the same numbers as Z06 and ZR1 do combined. XLR's body pannels should be made of aluminum as well, including the roof. The roof's folding mechanisim needs to be more compact to allow more truck space. This goes for all Caddy's, but the "Platnium" package needs to be STANDARD on all cars. Do like MB or BMW, and have a "sport" trim or a "luxury" trim.
The V should have a suspension system similar to the ZR1's Magnaride, but stiffer sport mode. 20 inch wheels with large large tires should also be put on the XLR-V.
Interior needs the most work of them all. A CTS type revamp needs to be done on the inside, with things like the 30 gig hard drive, heated cooled seats and steering wheel, as well as other luxury items that go along with this car.
The fender vents and all the little enhancements arent too bad, but the inside needed the work. It look like it went on a JC Whitney shopping spree. New grill, fender vents, ground effects, and a stick on wood trim kit for the interior.

Put the tech specs aside for a moment - the biggest problem with this car is that it looks totally stale when put side-by-side with a new CTS. Oh, yea, and it'll likely get smoked by the new CTS-V, too.

I agree with you here. When it first came out, it was very futuristic and edgy looking. But now after all the years that it's been around, its looks are pretty dated and tame.

Still looks damn good to me.

And definitely the most desirable out of the Caddy lineup. The resale value of XLRs blows all the other Caddy's out of the water.

For the money I'd take a CTS-V coupe any day.

Current XLR looks better. Somehow the new panels make the car look more dated than the current car I tend to think they should just kill this thing. I've seen maybe 6 of these cars on the road EVER.
