Darwin's theory has already been proven several times with substandard (though solidly wealthy) drivers of smashed Z06s...700 HP is purpose-built drag car territory, not for street cars driven by show-offs with too much money. JMHO.

I'm not a big Dodge fan, but the Viper is one of my favorite cars ever...If the rumors are true it seems the next model will be a monster and I really hope that it is. Dodge really needs to make sure that when it comes out it's as badass in today's market as the GTS was in it's day, (and that includes how it looks).

 

Thats going to be a quick car. Before people assume the Viper will top the Vette once again, isn't there rumored to be a supercharged Blue Devil vette coming out in the near future with similar power numbers?

 

Blue Devil anybody? Sounds like a HP war to me. Bring it on DCX, GM has already been pushing ahead for the C7 and "Super Vette"

 

Pretty soon 1100 horsepower will be the norm for a Honda friggin' civic.

I hope GM responds to this and dethrones the Viper.

 

By the time that Viper comes out, I get the feeling GM will have a Corvette that will smoke it anyway.

 

Actually the next gen Viper will be out first....in about 7 months. Vette SS should be sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

Awesome, now just make that chassis and body all carbon fiber and it will really a spectacle.

I remeber a guy who had a 1st gen Viper, wasn't long before he had to pick out grass and replace some body panels and a little bit back I was talking to a cutomer of mine and he was telling me about a buddy of his that totaled his new Z06.

Gawd I can see the media blitz when a few viper owners wreck thier cars in a street race.

Intrestingly it almost seems like history is repeating itself. Gas crunch (so the speak), escalating HP, the golden years of Hi-po factory iron. Where is the insurance industry??

 

anyone notice how high the hood is when its open? that wont fit in some garages!

700 hp is almost unbelievable from a production vehicle. maybe vehicles should have a feature like BMW that under normal conditions the vehicle only makes 400 hp and when you press a button its up to the full 500 like the M5 or M6, whichever one it was on.
