2008 Nissan Altima coupe

Somehow, the coupe looks strangely familiar.

Depending on who it's competing with at 270 horsepower, either it's a good match for the G6, or the Cobalt SS needs more power asap.

The car looks like a poor man's G35 to me.

That said, this, the Solara and the G6 all look like they had the same designer pinning their lines.

There already is a 4 door altima

Looks more like a G6 , Accord coupe , Solara type car that a Cobalt coupe Guy . The current SS would at least pace that car anyways , the weight and actual 240-250 hp of Cobalt cancels the power of the Nissan .

After these additional pics, the coupe looks even more like a poor man's G35 to me. I think it has the same shape, just a but rounder.

FWD or RWD? Is that based on the same platform as the 350?

FWD. Same platform as Altima 4dr and Maxima.

Not really. It's FWD. So it is to G35 2dr as the Altima 4dr is to G35 4dr.

FWD. Just an Altima coupe (think Monte Carlo to Impala).

Not really doing it for me. G35 coupe is pretty sexy. Something about the fwd stance (wheels pulled back toward greenhouse) and overall body shape just doesn't work as well here.

Perhaps it is better in person.

The Cobalt SS matches up against the new Sentra SE-R, which was also announced yesterday, and which will have a 200hp 2.5l I4 in the top model.

The Altima has a little more horsepower and torque than the G6 in V6 form. (270 vs 252/240).

Ok, that shape just threw me for a spin. I knew the old ones are fwd. I love my girlfriend's 95 maxima.

You really think that matters to most G35 purchasers? They made a look-alike that costs a lot less. You'll hear the howls from the Infiniti dealers soon.
