Pretty sure you can do the same mods to the LS7 and get up to 525-550ish rwhp if memory serves, guess it depends on how wild you want to get. Be interesting to see what a complete LS3 crate motor costs too. The LS3 sure is impressive since it's the volume "base" motor. I sure hope to heck the LS3 (without significant detuning) is what is available in an affordable 09 Camaro model though, that will be very darn sweet if so... I can only dream of a $30k Camaro w/ that engine, it's going to be an absolute screamer if it doesn't weigh 2 tons...

LS7 was built to show people what GM is capable of. Its not really intended for engine swaps where budget constraints are an issue.
But yeah, this LS3 does close the gap quite a bit. I wonder what pricing will be like for it.

If you have $15,000 for an LS7 laying around (not including the oiling system if I remember right) you're probably not the every day guy. GMPP showed how cool and relatively simple it was, not necessarily how attainable it was for the shadetree mechanic.
