2008 Dodge Hemi Challenger

I just found this out, I guess its a little old but oh well. Checkout the spy pictures of it. I think this is the best retro-car dodge has done to date.

Re: 2008 Dodge Hemi Challenger

to me, they tried too much to make it look like a 70 challenger.. not being a mopar fan, i'd probably think it actually was a 70 challenger.. i mean.. it looks nearly exactly like that model year..

compare that to the leaked Camaro concept.. there's no way, even a completely ignorant non car person would actually think that car is a 1960s car. it looks modern, despite its clearly retro styling

The Challenger easily looks the worst of the three, from those pictures. Not a fan of retro-muscle car #3 but I bet it will be a real performer.

I'll probally have to warm up to the Challenger. I like the rear, but the profile is TOO familiar, and to date, I still am not a fan of the front.

Ford did a modern version of a 60s Mustang, and pulled it off because it's so different from everything else today. GM on the other hand did a futuristic 1st gen Camaro.

The Challenger doesn't look like either. It just seems like a smaller version of the old Challenger..... sort of like the old Australian Chrysler Charger.

This is EXACTLY my take on the three cars, as well. Which is why I think I prefer them in this order, based solely on what we have seen...

Camaro Concept > Mustang > Charger Concept.

Gotta give the Charger props in the drivetrain department, though, as the concept will reportedly (and predictably) have the ~425 hp 6.1L plus a T56.

I do have to say, though, that the Stang looked pretty sweet as a concept (went back and looked at some pics of the concept the other day). Even though the concept was basically the same as the production car, there are always a few details that change. It will be interesting to see how the Camaro and Charger concepts translate into production, should they make it.

The Challenger is ugly....hopefully the Camaro for the show isn't a straight remake like the Challenger and Mustang. My idea of retro is retro cues with modern touches. I love the old Camaros but they shouldn't pick just one style the should use many Camaro trademarks.

this is exactly what the leaked clay model did.. so they are heading in the right direction.. i expect the concept at the auto show to be even better
