2007 Avalanche..

Autoweek did a column on the 2007 Avalanche.. They loved it.

As one editor noted, detractors may wonder why any truck should sell for $40,000. But if your truck does as much as a high-end Japanese sedan (satellite radio, rearview camera, comfortable interior, strong fit-and-finish, great performance), you can carry the whole family’s bicycles in the back, plus mulch, while towing a boat, what else do you want? It depends on your needs, but there are those bike-riding, power-boating gardeners with triplets who won’t be able to live without it. And now, you can’t even call it winning ugly
Personally, I'd be seriously considering to trade in our current Avalanche, if they come out with a 6 speed auto..

Also, as a side note, I'm really starting to see the new GMT900's more often now.. Its like just about everywhere I go, I see one parked.. This weekend at the waterfalls and gorge, I saw 3 different black Denali's in 3 different areas.

Re: 2007 Avalanche..

I'd buy one, but we already have an '05 4Runner and it only has 15k miles on it... so it's too early to buy a replacement, and I'll be damned if we have two SUVs in our house - no need.

BTW, that article is the first I've heard of specific mention of a higher output 6.0 being in the half ton model... I assume they'll all get a 6-speed soon enough...

I've always like the Avalanche since it first came out. I could even tolerate the body cladding because it seemed to fit the truck, although the WBC model did look cleaner from the side (the different grille from the Silverado sucked though). Looks like Chevy has done a wonderful job moving the bar again. Almost makes me wonder why anyone would choose a Ridgeline over the Avalanche now.

"FUEL MILEAGE (EPA COMBINED/ AW OBSERVED): 17.23/17.63 mpg"

I wonder if observed includes pulling that boat from the water?

Re: 2007 Avalanche..

Hmm, thats about 2-3 mpg better than what we get right now, in our 1500 4x4 5.3L Av (we get about 14-15 mpg). Nice. Must be from the DoD.. That would be about an extra $15-25 a month saved in gas for us..

Hmm.. heh.. That means over 5 years it would save us about $2400 in gas, assuming gas prices dont' fluctuate too much and we drive the same amount..

EDIT: Just realized that the AW vehicle didn't have 4x4.. So thats 0.5 to 1 mpg better right there..

Oops, did the math wrong.. its more like 15-25 a month.. heh, I started wondering about that figure and recalculated how much we spent on gas a month..

Re: 2007 Avalanche..

Well I just checked the GM website and still see no mention of a 6.0 or 6-speed... which of course doesn't mean it's not coming out - just means it's not officially out yet. So any word?

Like all the 900s its not as visually butch as the model it replaces, I would probably wait on the Escalade Ext.

Re: 2007 Avalanche..

This would probably be #1 on my list if we didn't get the Envoy this spring....

While I'd really like to have a truck bed for house projects and such.... the Envoy is simply able to handle 90-95% of these chores, so I think I'm going to stick with a sporty sedan instead.

Re: 2007 Avalanche..

like others, it's toward the top of my list also, but I just bought an 05 Silverado (4500miles on it now)

I'll hold out at least until the 6 speeds make it through the lineup.

I really want an Avalanche SS

I saw one in person and it looked great; all the lines flowed and it was very good-looking.

I'd love to have one of those....they are just going to be out of my price range for the next few years.

I love the redesigned avalanche, and I liked the previous model...
