2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
I never even heard of this thing until today. I've been checking it out for the past 15 minutes or so. What are your guys opinions of it? I think it actually looks pretty sweet, although I would have to see it in person to really see if I like it. What do you think the price will be?

Trying to remember the specs. I read about this a couple of months ago. It has the 425 hp 6.1 lt right? I remember the word on it was that it hauls major ***. 0-60 time wowed me IIRC.
EDIT: Oops, didn't see your link there. Yah though, 415hp 6.1 lt hemi, with a 0-60 time under 5 seconds. There goes our Trailblazer SS. GM better start playing hardball, because Mopar is going to be our major performance competition now, and from whats on the board, they're kicking our ***.

They mention the jeep as well. I really think what Dodge is doing now is great, and something that GM should be paying close attention too. THeir SRT cars are really amazing when you take into account all the factors (SRT4=great price and easy/effective modding, Charger/300c SRT8=big *** comfortable car with luxo options that's capable of pulling 12s, etc.) Every one of their hot rod models is usually at the top of the list numbers wise in comparison to any likely competition. Chevy is just kind of staying in the middle with their SS line, although the Trailblazer SS was impressive when it was first announced.
Ummm, I'm straying. I think my mini- rant belongs in the 5th gen forum, sorry. Anyway, I agree. It's a cool looking SUV, great engine, and it can actually go off-road as long as you upgrade the tires. They probaly come with street tires. Wonder how much it's going to retail for.

I saw it in person at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. SRT was doing a roadcourse comparing their cars to the competitors. In the hotel, there was every single SRT model ranging from 4,6,8,10. The only model not on display was the QC SRT10 Ram. They were autocrossing SRT models against Pontiac GTOs, Acura RSX, Subaru WRX, Ford Mustang GT, Corvette Z51, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and a BMW 3 series convertible. Pretty sweet looking ride. And faster AND CHEAPER than a Porsche Cayenne Turbo! Jeep>TB SS

Since the Jeep SRT8 has a base price of nearly $7k more than the TB SS, I think I'd go with the SS.. Both are very nice though, it's definitely nice to see GM and DCX making cool stuff like this

TB will be cheaper, I believe. Plus, with the TB SS, you will be able to get it in rwd if you want, with AWD optional. Jeep is 4x4/AWD only. I'm willing to bet the ride/handling balance of the SS is much nicer, too. Early drives I've seen of it say it handles like a sports sedan but still rides nice. Since the SRT8 Charger and 300 are already a little on the flinty side in the ride department, I'm betting the Jeep will be just as bad or worse.
Obviously, when they are both out they'd both be worth a drive before buying. I've driven a TB SS mule (it was a Buick Rainier body with the TB SS running gear). That thing hauls ***. Even if the Jeep does end up a tick quicker, the TB SS sure isn't slow...
The Jeep has a bit more power, but I believe it is also heavier (especially if you get the rwd version of the SS).

I'd take the SS over it any day of the week and twice on Sunday. The TB looks better imo, and gets better mileage right? DCX might have a pretty powerful motor but they suck in comparison to the LSx engines in fuel economy.
Especially since it starts 7k higher....no-brainer in my mind.

IMO, I expect the GC SRT8 to be quicker and faster through the 1/4 mile than the TB SS just like the SRT8 Charger & 300C are to the GTO.

Dude. Where the hell did you pull that curb weight? The SRT8 jeep GC weighs 4788lbs
Has GM released the prices for the trailblazer SS yet?
