A few of the interesting changes I noticed:

GTP dropped - the GT now carries the 3800 S/C V6.

The CSV's now get the 3.9L V6 as an option. For some reason it makes 235hp in every model except the Saturn, which makes 240 - wtf?

 

reeeeally ? So the SC3.8 is gonna hang around in a lower priced GT as a standard engine? Interesting

 

I assume that is the 260hp GT?
So the Impala gets the new 200hp 3.5 and 245hp 3.9 with VVT, and 5.3, while the "Performance" and "GM's BMW" gets the 400 year old 3.8.
Maybe to help NVH, they will detune the 3.8 SC motor to 150hp, like they did for the Luceren.

 

I would usually agree with you on this, as Pontiac does get shortchanged a lot, but honestly I would take the 3800 S/C over the 3.9 anyday of the week, especially as a performance engine. My biggest problem with the S/C'ed GP's is the TM. Other than that, the L67 gets better fuel economy more horsepower and a lot more torque than the 3.9. It also has the added benefit of being an engine that GM has built for 400 yrs versus a new engine with all the ambiguity of first yr quality.
For a mid-range, fast car I'd definately go with the GP GT over the LTZ.

 

True, the supercharged 3.8 would make a better engine for the GP. Now..if it was only RWD.
Seriously, I thought abotu what would happen if there was no Camaro in a few years, and I said to myself "I want a mild-priced 4dr V8 RWD sedan", and I cnat get that from GM.

 

That's pretty cool that they kept the SC 3800 in the line up.

Yup, it was a small move that makes a big impression. For some reason it was really impressive to look at the GP lineup and see that their mid-range car has 260 hp.
Now my only question is this: if the 4T65-E was really toughened up for the GXP, why not also put it in the GT and thus get rid of that torque management?

 

I would take the SC3800 over the almost all the new GM v6's . Now heres to hoping that GXP trans got mated to SC engine as well . The SC GT would definately feel qwicker than an previous GTP less all the pcm babaysitters .

 

Is there any way you could find out if the GT got the improved tranny? Knowing GM I would severely doubt it but you never know.
