2006 Cadillac CTSv likely to have nearly 500 horsepower!
Next Caddy CTSv To Nudge 500 HP
While the new, 400-hp Cadillac CTSv sedan is still a half-year away from market, the resurgent General Motors division is already aiming its sights even higher as part of a planned mid-cycle update.
The ’04 CTSv will debut with the 5.7-liter LS6 under the hood, a version of the big V-8 currently powering the Chevrolet Corvette. In 2006, several sources tell TheCarConnection.com, an upgraded LS6 will grow to 6.0-liters displacement.
And as for horsepower? “We haven’t determined where that would take us yet,” said one well-placed source. But Caddy knows where it needs to go if it sticks with plans to make the CTSv a credible contender to the likes of BMW’s vaunted M models and the likes of Mercedes’ AMG lineup. Where 400 ponies was long an industry target, 500 hp is the new benchmark. Well-placed sources expect a limited-edition version of the next Corvette, dubbed C6, to nudge past that magic number, and the CTSv is likely to follow close behind.
For ’06, both the base CTS and the V-Series version will get new, more lavish interiors. And Cadillac will add its computer-controlled MagneRide suspension, at least on the CTSv. Like all perform plans, insiders caution, future fuel-economy regulations could lead to a change in plans. —Paul A. Eisenstein

I read this on GMInsidenews this morning. I sure would like to know the source of this info. I'm sure 500hp is the goal, but I would like to know who would tell this so soon when the current V series isn't even on the road yet. I'd say at this point, this is just blowing smoke. If it isn't just a "source's" guess, this is very good news indeed!

Story seems WAY too speculative, IMO. Let's see cadillac succesfully build, market, price, and SELL the 400 HP version first. Then that will dictate where they go from there...A lot of things can happen between now and then...Fuel economy, gas prices another war or tanking economy need to be considered...Not to mention what could happen if $$$ budgeted for cadillac in the future gets re-routed somewhere else. Things change. The writer might as well have said the 2011 Z28 will come with 850 HP!

Thats awesome, great news. Caddy going big time, heck right now at 400 is big time. One thing im sick of, is about the corvette. Every other car is held back cause of the corvette. Hey i like the corvette but jeez, its annoying how every car is held back cause it might impede on the corvette, so annoying. The corvette is something special but should be for different reasons that other cars or sedans in the performance market. Always every other car in GM has to be held back as to not **** off the corvette people... come on thats getting so old.........just my opinion........Good for Caddy though with the CTSv

If, in fact it will have that 500hp, I wonder whether $100G's will get you into one or not...
Yeah, yeah, I know I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea!

Just a thought... but we do know the 5.7 is being bumped up to 6.0 liters (the 5.7's days are very, very limited). I'd also say it's safe to assume that because of that, both the CTSv and the GTO will also use these new 6.0 liter engines. Finally, just the bump in displacement alone should give another 40-50 hp.
Seems the question boils down to if GM can easily squeeze an additional 50-60 horsepower out of a 5.7 LS6, then it stands to reason that a 6.0 LS6 (LS7?) using upgraded LS6 parts should be able to reach if not 500, then pretty close.

I think for 500HP it will need to be at least 6.6L
