Just saw Motorweek today, and they mentioned the 2006 Porsche 911 Turbo will have 480 HP and 500+ lb-ft of TQ. 0-60 is estimated at 3.4 seconds !!!

Dang, the Corvette/911 rivalry keeps getting better and better.

AWD, 480hp Turbo I6, sounds like an *** load of fun. Not quite 123 thousand worth of fun though...

Although I wonder... whats the point of throwing the engine in the back if it AWD anyway...

 

All at a price only 2x that of the Z06!

The 911s aren't mid engine. They are rear engine, and one of the few remaining rear engine cars out there.

 

Shouldn't that be H6 as in Horizontally Opposed Six Cylinder

 

Normally either F6 (Flat 6) or O6 (Opposed 6)...

 

Both porshe and subaru use H(whatever).... hell its in huge text on the engine of my SVX. H6

 

They still try to send more torque to the rear wheels whenever possible - therefore having more weight over the rear wheels during heavy acceleration helps a lot. The front wheels pick up what the rear wheels can't handle.

 

I have bee riding in rear engine turbocharged vehicles for years. The chicago CTA buses. Wow a 130k car shares its layout witha bus!
