2005 Mustang runs 13.35 with timeslips
Re: 2005 Mustang runs 13.35 with timeslips
Honestly, that should not come as a surprise to anyone. With the exception of the MPH being low, that is about what I'd expect of a car that weighs ~3700 lbs w/driver, makes ~270 RWHP, was run in cool fall air, and gets a 60 ft time in the 1.8s.
That said, I'm still kind of mystified by the relatively low MPH for the manual cars (I've come to expect it from Ford A4 transmissions). It would appear that something is going on with torque management via the "fly by wire" throttle, but I have nothing but rumor and hearsay to go on. Perhaps we'll learn more in the near future.

hang on a sec isn't this the same guy that got beat by the GTO's couple of weeks ago ? - http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=518045
in that run he pulled a flat 14 @ 100 with a 1.9 60ft , in two weeks he hasn't done anything , but pull a slightly better 1.8 60ft and droped his et by .7 ?
something doesn't add up, other than he seems pissed to get beaten by the goats...
, and said "it will be different next time"

Hmmm...the JDM car went 13.4. The MT car went 13.5. There are numerous owners out there who have went 13.6-13.7's.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, but just take a drink of water.

BTW...his 13.3 run was witnessed by a Z28.com member!
Good thing for GM they put the LS2 in the $34k GTO!

Good track times but from a roll in a street race it would be close with an LT1 and it looks like a LS1 that traps 106-108 normally would just walk off on it.

That oughta do it.
Say...back in 1998, I head that a stock LS1 Camaro went 12.9 (gold in color - some here might remember), but I didn't believe it till it was all broken down and certified and such. After all, this one had just put down ~285 RWHP at 'Gathering II' in Atlanta, and at ~3550 lbs, it just didn't add up.

I agree on waiting for an average. There are freak Mustangs delivered from the factory just like there were freak F-Bods and I'd have to agree with the poster above. But ..... You can always take a really good driver with excellent track conditions and they'll make any model car perform better than other cars of the same model and that is not a fair comparison (I consider magazine track times bull no matter who runs it). I'd rather wait 6 months, see a bunch of 05 mustangs run in person and see a bunch of timeslips and say 'the new Mustang is a 13 sec car, or 13.5 second car or whatever'. I haven't seen a new one at the track but have killed 2 05 GTs thus far on I40 and my car is modded very lightly.
Just remember: His mustang may be one of 'slower' ones and others are running faster. You never know. It's just not enough to get a hissy about.
Re: 2005 Mustang runs 13.35 with timeslips
There is no way everybody is going to run 13.3 (nor was I implying such), and I doubt the average will be very close to that either. Likely 13.5-13.8 or something along those lines. That does not, however, mean that the car is not capable of it (270-ish RWHP and 3500 lbs empty).
