Brabus E V12 Biturbo Sets New World Record As The Fastest Sedan In The World
With a top speed of 217.6 mph (350.2 km/h) the Brabus E V12 Biturbo, powered by a 640 bhp twin-turbo twelve cylinder engine, set a new world record during the Auto Motor und Sport magazine high-speed tests in Nardo, Italy.
With this record, the small-series production E V12 ultra-performance sedan, based on the current Mercedes W 211 E-Class series, follows in the footsteps of the Brabus E V12 based on the predecessor E-Class models of the W/S 210 series. In October of 1996 this 582 bhp Brabus automobile found entry into the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's fastest sedan" with an electronically limited top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).
The Brabus E V12 Biturbo Engine
The 2005 model year Brabus E V12 Biturbo is powered by a Brabus SV 12 increased-displacement engine, which is surgically implanted into the confines of the E V12's modified engine bay. The twin-turbo twelve-cylinder engine normally powers the current Mercedes 600 models. Installation of a new longer-stroke crankshaft milled from one piece, precision-balanced piston rods and larger pistons with correspondingly increased bore results in a displacement increase from normally 5.5 to 6.3 liters. In addition the Brabus engine is modified with sport camshafts, re-machined cylinder heads, a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust with sport metal catalysts and four tailpipes, and with newly programmed engine electronics.
The engine of the Brabus E V12 Biturbo delivers an enormous maximum power output of 640 bhp at 5,100 rpm, and an even more impressive peak torque of 757 lb-ft (1,026 Nm), available from a low 1,750 rpm.
The numbers turned in by the Brabus E V12 Biturbo on the Nardo test track speak for themselves: In addition to reaching a top speed of 217.6 mph the world's fastest sedan also demonstrated excellent sprinter qualities: 4.5 seconds from 0 - 62 mph and 11.7 seconds from 0 - 125 mph are unique for sedans.
Tires, Suspension & Brakes
The enormous performance also necessitates the use of special tires: The multi-piece Brabus Monoblock VI light-alloy wheels in sizes 8.5Jx19 on the front axle and 9.5Jx19 in the rear are shod with high-performance tires from Brabus technology partner Pirelli in sizes 255/35 ZR19 in front and 285/30 ZR19 on the rear axle.
The suspension of the Brabus E V12 Biturbo is sporty yet comfortable with a ride height lowered by some 30 millimeters compared to its production brethren. Brabus sport sway bars support the sporty handling with excellent ride comfort and large safety reserves.
Naturally Brabus also equips the new E V12 Biturbo with a special high-performance brake system. The system is calibrated to the electro-hydraulic SBC brake system of the E-Class. It consists of 375-millimeter (14.8 inches) ceramic discs with 12-piston aluminum calipers on the front axle and six-piston calipers on 355-millimeter (14.0 inches) vented and perforated steel discs in the rear.
Extensive Wind Tunnel Testing
Excellent aerodynamic properties are essential at the high speeds so effortlessly attained by the new Brabus E V12 Biturbo. Brabus conducted extensive wind tunnel testing to ensure highest aerodynamic efficiency: The Brabus front bumper with integrated spoiler and carbon lip not only looks striking, it also reduces lift on the front axle, thus further optimizing directional stability at high speeds. Its aerodynamic counterpart in the rear is the Brabus spoiler lip for the trunk lid, which noticeably reduces lift on the rear axle at high speeds.
The Brabus side sills give the sedan a lower, sleeker appearance. They also come with another interesting feature: Pushing a button on the keyless-entry remote or pulling on the door handles activates entrance lights integrated into the underside of the sills. These lights illuminate the ground next to the vehicle and make entering and exiting the vehicle safer. The strikingly styled Brabus rear apron rounds out the sporty yet elegant exterior design of the Brabus E V12 Biturbo.
The cockpit
The cockpit of the Brabus E V12 Biturbo exudes a special ambiance: The four-door is equipped with an exclusive Brabus fully leather interior crafted from a combination of especially soft yet durable Brabus Mastik leather and Alcantara. Inserts made from genuine carbon in the dashboard, center console and door panels create a sporty feel. In addition the sedan can be equipped with a state-of-the-art Brabus multimedia package with DVD player and LCD screens integrated into the back of the front headrests.
The Brabus E V12 Biturbo is built in small-series production and starts at 298,000 Euros.

Gay = Twin-Turbo 12 Cyl 384cuin engine ONLY making 640hp. (I imagine an LS7 with TT could push the 700HP+ Arena)
I'd like to see what Chevy could do with a Vehicle if they had 350k to blow.
Just can't get fired up over a vehicle that costs that much. Doesn't seem like they've done anything special to me. (for the money...)

pretty cool car, but i agree with Chrome383Z. give chevy the same money to blow on a vette engine and it'll beat the snot outta that.
Re: 2005 Mercedes-Benz Brabus E V12 Biturbo - New World Record As The Fastest Sedan
I just have to ask what is that on the dash? As an auto mag writer might say "it looks like mid 90's GM mouse fur."

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
Doesn't mean squat unless they actually build something.

I don't understand what Brabus did for that motor that's so great, though.
The stock/OEM SL65 AMG has a twin-turbocharged 6.0L 36-valve V-12 engine with 604 hp @ 4,800-5,100 rpm and 738 lb-ft @ 2,000 - 4,000 rpm, it's faster, more luxurious, and almost half the price.

I think the baddest E-class is the E55 AMG, with the 469 hp/5xx lb-ft supercharged 5.4L.

Threxx I said to put it into the CTS because it will fit. It would also fit into the STS but hey put the biggest engine into the smallest car and you get your fastest car.

I'd say I agree. Except I'm not really impressed by this particular car. It's overpriced engine transplant.
Now the E55, S600, etc. are cars that blow their respective counterparts from BMW and Lexus out of the water.
Re: 2005 Mercedes-Benz Brabus E V12 Biturbo - New World Record As The Fastest Sedan
A Supercharged LS7 would be faster than the Brabus. No argument there.
Would GM do it? Probably not but I'm sure we'll see some aftermarket shops like Lingenfelter doing it.

Rumor has it they may try entering that arena in the next couple of years... but with a twist. Instead of using superchargers or turbochargers for added power, they're going to use electric motors... thus making high performance vehicles that get better gas milage than the non high performance version of the same car. The LS430 is getting a ground-up redesign and will become the LS460 with a 4.6L with at least 350 horsepower. Add in a hybrid electric system option and Lexus is aiming at a total of at least 450 horsepower and AWD. That's still not true AMG territory for a car that heavy, but it's a big step in the right direction, and will also likely come at a much lower price tag. My real question is does Lexus dare to make an LS that actually rides somewhat rough in the name of handling, or are they going to try to add a more instantly adaptive ride control system that truely improves the handling dramatically without hurting ride quality too much.
The new IS coming out is rumored to have a 5.0L version of the new 4.6L from the LS putting out a total of 400 horsepower (non-hybrid) w/ a 6-speed manual and come pretty much nothing but fully loaded in the mid-40k range.

I wouldn't call the AMG v12 TT gay though. Anything making 604+hp and 738lb-ft of tq stock earns my respect.
And what's with the "it's ONLY making 640hp" comment? That's like saying the 427ci Ls7 is ONLY making 505hp compared to the F430's 263ci 490hp 4.3L v8. 164ci more displacement and only 15hp more. If it was boasting 427ci of displacement like the z06, it would power the space shuttle and make a gazillion hp. You get the point
. This motor is both impressive and good. Same goes for the ls7 and the Ferrari 4.3L.
