2004 (yes, 200*4*) GTO may get the optional scoops.

from Autoweek.com
GTO scoop
Pontiac may offer an optional hood with air scoops as a way of clearing out 2004 GTOs still in stock before the improved 2005 model goes on sale. Dealers are having success selling GTOs fitted with aftermarket scoops, so the company may pull ahead the optional 2005 hood for 2004 models, says Pontiac-GMC general manager Jim Bunnell. Pontiac sold 3687 GTOs through June and has a 255-day (6100-vehicle) supply of ’04s. For 2005 GTO (above) gets the LS2 6.0-liter V8 with 400 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque (up 50 hp and 30 lb-ft vs. the ’04 model), optional hood with scoops, dual exhaust outlets and larger brakes.
While this can't hurt things, I'd guess that swallowing the ol' pride and starting to play the rebate game with the 04 GTO is the only way these are going to clear out now that the 05 specs are out... and the longer the wait, the deeper the discount is going to have to be.

I don't think swallowing your pride hurts as much as going before your stockholders and telling them you didn't sell (and thus earn) as much as you told them.

Unless you work for Enron, Tyco, Worldcom.....

They need to do something with the 04's look, but I think it's too late now. Rebates are their only choice.

Funny, local dealer had 5 sitting out front... one of the five had an aftermarket hood. Drove by several days later, only four sitting out front. Guess which one was missing?

Yep, just found this out yesterday evening.

A dealer in Mission Valley in San Diego is selling them at an additional $295 discount, and 0.9% financing.

If the $1,000 GM loyalty discount is included that brings the GTO back down to a more sane and reasonable $29,000!

Glad to see that GM is finally getting with the program on these (and treating them in the same way they treat far more expensive Cadillacs & Corvettes via rebates & incentives) & using whatever method they used to rein in those large majority of dealers who scalped the living daylights on the car and refused to even let people test drive them without a deposit. Hope everyone learned an important lesson in all that.

I wonder what those very few people who paid $39-40,000 a few months ago are thinking now.

The same things that PT Cruiser buyers who paid $32k, $35k, $40k for a PT Cruiser when they released were thinking 6 months later...

its not pontiacs fault..its the dealers....and heck sucks to be them..hope GM lets the selling dealers get the 05's and the "hoarded" GTO dealers suck it in the tailpipe

Re: 2004 (yes, 200*4*) GTO may get the optional scoops.

actually it IS GM's fault. Pontiac's been starved for a "gotta have it, perception is value" kind of car for so long that once one showed up they all basically went into ravage-rape-pillage-plunder mode because they thought they could for once get away with it. had Pontiac had more desirable cars this wouldn't have happened. And Firebird doesn't count for many reasons, but mainly because it was a dieing car not a newly introduced one. but expect the same EXACT thing to happen again when the Solstice FINALLY goes on sale.

I'm a little tired of this kind of insensitive commentary. What's it to you, how someone feels about the deal they got? Perhaps they are glad to be one of the first owners of a singular and capable modern-era muscle car? I've been on the leading edge of several significant purchases and had absolutely zero misgivings later on. I didn't get the deep discounts now available on my 04 CompG, when I got mine last July. Yet I did get the large benefit of beginning to enjoy the car many months sooner than those now buying them.

And seriously... how many do you really think paid that amount... ... many of the early deliveries were no doubt from cars pre-ordered at *maybe* MSRP at most. Got data?

Good, that thing needs scoops now. Saw my 1st GTO on the road a few days ago BTW. I had to stare at it to tell what it was. The owner lives pretty close to me too.
