2004 CTS Engine info

Has anyone heard that the 2004 3.2 will be available as the standard engine for the base CTS model only, but that the higher level models get the 3.6 litre SFI VVT V6 engine? (I'm not talking about the 5.7 here)

Can anyone confirm this?

From what I remember the original engine will be available with the 5-speed, and the new V6 will be auto only for the moment... then for 2005 I think the plan is to have a manual ready for the new V6 and the original V6 will be gone...

I am not 100% on this though... but reasonably sure.

Yup ..... That matches what I have ... 5 speed auto (3.42 axle ratio) for the 3.6 (luxury and luxury sport). The base CTS gets the 3.2 and the 5 speed getrag. Also the luxury and luxury sport get more former options as standard feature. The use of the 3.6 is paired higher level wheels. The luxury sport may gain power sunroof and the Xenon HI headlamps as standard equipment.

I also saw a picture of a new wheel on the CTS... looks to be a 17" wheel... 7-spoke, but different than the one on the Luxury Sport.

I am assuming this wheel becomes an alternative to the standard 16" wheel that is standard equipment.... again, I'm reasonably sure of this... but not 100%

I haven't seen any pics yet, I've just been picking this stuff up from things I've read on GM's web site.

Heard anything about the monte carlo RPO WCP (Winners Circle Package)?

Hmmm... negative. That is the first I've heard of that.

I will try to dig something up though.

OK, I found this:

"Winner's Circle Appearance Package, includes (NX5) Wheels, 16" (40.6 cm) diamond-cut cast aluminum with red center-cap bowtie, race-inspired rear spoiler and side (door and quarter) graphics appliques
1 - Late introduction - Available September 2003. Available only in select colors. See color chart."

Looks ot be available only on the NON-SUPERCHARGED SS... so, it looks like it is the new name for the Sport Appearance package, perhaps??

Yup that's it .... It doesn't seem to be there with the Supercharged SS, but it seems to be avilable on the non SS too .... there remains the B2E (comp Yellow) and ZOK (Sport Appear) packages.

Scroll down a bit for the V6 info on this one.

http://www.autointell-news.com/News-...l-02-03-p3.htm

Basically everything on the motor is bushed or isolated from the block so it doesnt transmit noise through the chassis, it runs 3 pairs of piston oil jets to cool them. Runs full intake and exhaust VVT and i'm sure can produce much more power and torque compared to what its got already, it definitly should be a top 10 engine but that depends on whether GM is willing to pay JD powers off for his "educated opinion"
