2 women's opinions on the HHR

I had to post this, because I thought both responses were hysterical because I never looked at an HHR like that, and because 2 different conversations with 2 different people had the EXACT same conclusion.

I went with my mom and dad to the local Chevy dealer that has the grey HHR in the showroom. Dad thought it looked great, Mom's response? "It looks like a hearse!!" She didn't like it. She commented it looked too short...it needed to be taller. Of course, she drives an Explorer and she's 5 foot 2...go figure My father is 5 foot 10, and while he didn't have an issue with the height of the vehicle, he said it felt like the B pillar was curved too close to his head...something my 5 foot 7 inch self did not notice, but I could see his point.

Later that night, I took my fiance by to see it. Her response? "It looks like a hearse!" She didn't like it, either.

Apparently, the "Grave Digger" comment made by someone in another thread is entirely appropriate And no, neither my fiance nor my mother watch monster trucks I just thought it was funny 2 different comments from 2 very different women yielded the exact same initial response.

For the record, while I think it looks a little short as well, I love it

I never would have thought of a hearse in a million years...

Hearses for the last several decades have been huge Lincoln and Caddy sedan-based wagons.

But hey, you did say they were women's opinions...

j/k ladies...

Eh, I'm just kidding. Besides, I don't think too many ladies post in here (), except 94LightningGal, and she hopefully won't hate me for it.

Re: 2 women's opinions on the HHR

Glad to see you guys founded these two as ludicrous as I did. I could see it from my mother, but my fiance has come a long way with cars in the 2+ years we've been together. Before I met her, one day she decided to get the tree sap off her former, beloved '93 Saturn SC1. With a Brillo pad. No, I am not making this up...the black trunklid showed the signs of the Brillo masacre the night we met. Mind you, this girl now prides herself on being able to powershift a manual, knows what OEM stands for (and repeats it for my friends so much its obnoxious ), can tell the difference between a '68 and a '69 Camaro from a hundred yards, knows she's looking at an '86 IROC when she sees the third brake light at the top of the back window (versus the spoiler), and was the one who convinced me we needed to go to BG next month! How many 21 year old females can do that??

So not all females are bad with cars, but mind you I've had over 2 years to work with mine. Thankfully, she has not taken a Brillo pad to the Grand Am yet

No hating here. I get just as annoyed with some of my sex as you guys do.

I don't see the hearse thing. I just think it looks............ well............... odd.

I've seen one on the road, and one is sitting at my local Chevy dealership (it is a combo Dodge / Chevy dealership............. ahhhh, small town life. hehe).

Maybe it will grow on me??? (I know the Charger sure isn't)

When I took my mom to look at a Magnum that was the same thing she said, that it looked like a Hearse. I guess anything that's a wagon looks like hearse nowadays...

LOL.............. Nahhhh. It was just a timing thing. I was browsing around different forums and saw this post. I thought it would be interesting to see what a couple of women thought. Imagine my surprise when I saw myself mentioned. LOL

Most of my friends are guys (gee, big surprise, huh???). I finally have a few female friends, but thats just because I have a kid. Even my Mom drives me nuts. (in romance, she is 62 going on 12)

I guess I just don't get the HHR. Of course, to me, the PT Cruiser is just a Neon with a cute suit. The HHR, like the SSR, seems like the answer to the question that noone asked. It just seems very reactionary (to the success of the PT).

Both Ford and GM need to stop being reactionary, and start being a bit more of visionaries. On that front, the Ford Edge is looking interesting. It will be interesting to see if it sinks or swims (there were spy shots that got removed from BON). The only way either of these companies are going to win the game of the "next big thing," is to take a few chances.

Sorry for the rant. I guess I just got my fill of reading more of the gloom and doom posts on various sites, again.

Re: 2 women's opinions on the HHR

Speaking of women's opinions, I was leafing through on of the car mags the other night (not C&D, maybe R&T) and they had a full comparo of the HHR against the PT Cruiser.

To my shock...the HHR won.

I don't know...when the PT cruiser came out it reminded me of a hearse (as many others I know). So I don't find the thought that far-fetched.

In trying to find words to describe it to a friend, hearse was one of the first I came up with.

I guess the one I looked at a couple days ago, sold already!
