Well, that, ironically, is a lot of my reasoning for applying it to the Monte Carlo...

Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

I guess we'll see this in Detroit in Jan given the timing? I'm sure AW probably got the wink wink ok to publish it with the provisos. Based on AW's proviso, I appears that the MT one looks to be "closer" for overall proportions.

Rear-quad doors on the GTO and possibly large Chevy coupe (Monte Carlo?)sounds good to me. I seem to recall Bentley (or some other luxury make) having designed some that look a little more seamless and integrated than the RX8. That design at a Chevy price point might be the ticket for me in a couple of years ... a little bit more family friendly sports car, but give me a 6 speed please

While I do think that looks better than the current one, I can't help but for some reason think "Mitsubishi" when I see the front end on that.

Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

After the half-baked '04 re-introduction, I hope they don't top themselves with a "four door coupe" reinterpretation.

Why turn one of your most legendary nameplates into an experiment? GTO is a low volume halo car for your performance brand. Why does it have to be compromised to appeal to buyers who might have otherwise bought a sedan? Save half-size suicide doors and other gimmicks for the G6 and build a real 4-door rwd sedan that performance-minded buyers might consider. Don't fix what isn't broken with the GTO.

Excellent points, and that would push me even further to saying Monte Carlo would be a better place for a bigger sized quad-coupe idea....

I hope to God it looks nothing like that. It looks like a 05 Mustang, that horrible looking GTO concept, and the current GTO crashed into each other and somehow molded into that photoshopped picture

Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

Is this car going to be stuck with the 18,000 units per year, fully loaded with no options mentality that sort of plagues the current car? I hope not...the GTO deserves better.

Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

its a photochop... although here's a quote from the actual article

We say “fairly close” because we’ve seen the super-secret spy photos upon which it is based, and the actual shots show a sleeker, wider, lower and, frankly, far more appealing car.
So there you have it..

I like both the rendition, and the idea of having the little doorlets for my two tykes. I hope the car does not have three rear seats.

Exactly what I was thinking. That car is WAY too busy.

I like the front end, othere than the part in the middle of the grille. But, the rest is so Blah. It's like the entusiast post that said, "I am a car guy because I can spot a GTO in traffic."

That new front grille looks a wee bit like the concept grille from some years ago.

At the bottom.

Why oh why, couldn't that car have been built?

Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

I'm going to have to go ahead and say the real car probably looks a heck of a lot better than that. Like someone else said, it's a simple photoshop of an old school-themed GTO front grafted onto the 2005 Monaro/GTO. Just look at the general theme when judging the concept, don't take the entire car at face value.
