You can say it as many times as you like. bull$hit is bull$hit. Its not huge by any shape or form. Its bigger then some cars but smaller then a lot. You can qualify it any way you want. Its a great car and not nearly as big in person as people on here make it out to be.

It's pretty big. The 4th gens were also pretty big. Proportions do make the the Challenger look fatter though.

How about "For a COUPE, the Challenger is rather huge."

Remember, back in the days of compact 4 cylinder Preludes, DSMs, Integras, and other sporty coupes, the much better performing F-bodies were (somewhat unfairly, and comically in retrospect) criticized for being too big (especially since they didn't offer large interiors to go along with their bigness). Consider also:

2008 Mercedes Benz CL550 (considered to be a big coupe):
Exterior Dimensions

Wheelbase 116.3 in
Overall length 199.4 in
Overall height 55.8 in
Overall width 73.7 in
Coefficient of drag 0.27 cd
Curb weight 4,485 lb

Interior Dimensions

Front headroom36.9 in
Rear headroom 36.4 in
Front legroom 42.2 in
Rear legroom 32.2 in
Cabin capacity 104.2 cu ft
Cargo capacity1 13.5 cu ft

2008 Challenger SRT8
DIMENSIONS AND CAPACITIES
Wheelbase, in. (mm) .................................................. .116.0
Track, Front, in. (mm) .................................................. 63.0
Track, Rear, in. (mm).............................................. ........63.1
Overall Length, in. (mm) ...............................................197 .7
Overall Width, in. (mm) .................................................. 75.7
Overall Height, in. (mm).............................................. ....57.0

Ground Clearance, in. (mm) ................................... @ curb 5.5
Frontal Area, sq. ft. (sq. m) ............................................ 25.3
Drag ient.............................................. .......................0.353
Curb Weight, estimated, lb. (kg) ...................................... 4140
Weight Distribution, percent F/R................................. 55.6/44.4

Hell, the Challenger is right on top of the old tank-looking S500 coupe from the '90s. Challenger has 1.6" less length, 0.1" taller, half inch wider. Just sayin'.

Too big is realitive. I would have no problem driving it. I am pretty sure you could not slap the smile off my face as a matter of fact.

Exceptionally brickish. It also looks like they put zero work into that dash, they could have done a leather wrap or something for 40 grand.

I still don't understand all the hoopla over this car, other than its rear-wheel drive and V8....its butt ugly IMO.

Except that it is as big in person as people make it out to be. The only cars that it is smaller than (with few exceptions) are SUV's. Even then it rivals some of those. The car has been seen in person by more than a few people on here now and the general consensus seems to be that it is huge.

I realize you like it. That's great. I really am glad that it turns YOU on. That's really what is important to you not my or anyone else's opinion. Still doesn't mean it's an average size car.

That's the width of your thumb for the width and the width of your 4 fingers together on length respectively.

The mammoth size is an optical illusion due to the wheelbase and height.
Oh, come on, what optical illusion? That it's shaped like a brick, and hence the hood "appears" to start a foot higher than 4th gen? That's not optical illusion. That's a fact.

Here are the dimensions of both cars:

L: Camaro 193.5 in, Challenger 197.7 in
W: Camaro 74.1 in, Challenger 75.7 in
H: Camaro 51.2 in, Challenger 57 in
WB: Camaro 101.1 in, Challenger 116

The illusion here is that, on paper, they don't look that much different other than the weight and the wheelbase. In reality, though, the Challenger IS a significantly larger vehicle.

Ding Ding. Winner.

A better way to compare the cars would be to measure the volume. That would give a true representation of the overall girth of the car. Anyone have a pool of water big enough and want to dunk a couple cars in?

*Sigh* Where it Keith moon when we need him?

I stood next to a Challenger on the street the other day. Yes, it is a big car compared to what is normally out out there these days. Definitely bigger than the 2010 Camaro, but by inches and not feet. I think it would look odd if it was any smaller, due to the design.

They did it in 1970 with a smaller car and it looked fine:

2008 Challenger

Length - 197.7"
Width - 75.7"
Height - 57"

1970 Challenger

Length - 191.3"
Width - 76.1" (Well, ya can't win 'em all... )
Height - 50.9"

Proportionally I think it looks relatively fine so if you were to just shrink it down overall it would look better. Think of it as a balloon. Let some air out while maintaining the proportions and it would certainly move up a few notches on my "I like it" scale.
