'06 Charger....Job One, 4/04/05.

That's the planned date for the first production Charger. Right now, it seems it will be the first car with the 6.1 Hemi.

The rumor mill now says that the SRT-8 Magnum and SRT 300C (300D?) may not get the 6.1, but may be powered by a supercharged 5.7 Hemi, with around 430 hp.

My god fellas I think we are in for a new muscle car era. Please bring back the cambirds GM . All these old school badasses coming out of the wood work with the Mach 1, GTO and now the charger popping out. All we need now is a LS2 powered Chevelle or Nova or both, hemi cuda and the boss stang to come back with a 5.4L and it'll be a wannabe late 60's early 70's era all over again. Not quite as cool though. Good enough since I never got to experience it and would like a modern day replica Only thing is I'd be afraid of GM tarnishing the chevelle's heritage like they did with the Nova and damn close with the GTO just nowhere near like the poor Nova.

Wow. Job one for the charger. I sometimes thought it would never happen during this whole RWD drama...

Ill second that... with the exception of the new dakota/durango, I like just about their entire lineup right now. too bad I have to say just about the direct opposite of GM...

If we are entering a new Muscle Car era I think it should blow the doors off of the 60's-70's era because the technology is so much better.

A new muscle car era would rock, but the first one will always be the best in my book

If gm brings the camaro back, and rwd to its midsized cars it would be fun times again, having like 10 midsized american (sorta) rwd v8 cars to choose from from baseline like the gt mustang to cts-v's and greater all with gobs of hp, good handling, 8 cylinders, decent fuel mileage with todays technology the next few years could be some great ones. It may have taken over 30years but maybe with the help of newer technology and car companies willing to take risks and bring back rwd cars we can relieve what made the muscle car era great, and fix some its shortcomings.

I saw one of those dealers order sheet that showed the option of ordering a 300 with the 6.1, I also saw one with the SRT-10 QC as an option on the Ram!

Would the Charger cost about the same as the HEMI 300C?

The 6.1 SRT-8 will probably cost as much as a well optioned 300C.

But other models will cost far less. Remember, the Charger isn't really intended as strictly a low volume "boutique" performance model. It will, (with the Magnum) be a replacement for the Intrepid.

Just guesses....but I'd peg the 5.7 Hemi at slightly under $30,000 (just like the Magnum R/T). The 3.5L at mid 20's and the SRT-8 in the $34-$37,000 range.

Don't know if it will be available with the 2.7.
