I dont think Caddy would put a chevy engine in a CTS. It would more than likely be a 4.6Northstar or its successor.

Any word on the next gen northstar? I remember reading somthing about it on here.
The CTS-V shares its 6.0l (for 2006) V8 with the Corvette, but I think that's an exception to the rule, so you're probably correct. But if you put in a Northstar, you add a lot to the cost, and all you really get is a bit more smoothness. And I've heard the Northstar won't fit the CTS.

Which all brings me back to my remark about a non-luxury brand RWD.

Toyota, Nissan, and Honda share engines between their luxury and volume brands, so I don't see why GM couldn't.

The reason GM can't do that is because their mainstream, downmarket V6 engines would be a complete joke in a luxury vechile.

I voted Impala since I put MANY miles on an '01 base model with the 3.4L engine and still think it was a great car. Either it or Charger. The Impala would better avoid all the Hemi crap talk at every other gas pump. Plus im just kinda partial to Chevy.

But there's nothing wrong with the V8s, except that a 5.3 or 6.0 smallblock isn't as smooth as a Northstar. On the other hand, they have more torque and probably better fuel consumption if tuned for that. Such tuning would make them smoother too.

They're not an ideal engine, I suppose for a luxury car, however, unless it's a very sporty one.

Without a doubt , a CTS . I spent a week in a SRX with the 3.6 , its got to be making more than the 255 hp caddy says it has . Put that engine in a CTS with a stick and couple the handling abilities ...its just a no brainer . The Charger is butt ugly , no way would I buy one just because their cheap ...RWD or not .

Charger R/T.. I was looking at an Impala SS, but it's too dull on the outisde, and it's wrong wheel drive.

For me, hands down Dodge Charger R/T!

It's the only V8, rear drive, reasonably priced car on the list.

Yep - I just hate talking with strangers about the powerful engine in my car.

The Sigma's a nice platform, and the availability of a manual is nice. But that's not nearly enough to counter the Charger's size, superior power, and lower price. If I were shopping for a car in the $30K range, the question would come down to which of the LX-platform models I'd want. And if shopping for something around $40K, then it'd be which LX car I'd want in the SRT-8 version.

None of the above.

No offense, but I wouldn't spend my money on any of them. They just don't fit the bill for me.

Easy....3.6L CTS with the M6 and sports package.

I don't do charger, but i would do 300C. If that were an option, i'd probably give the LX car a good hard look. But in the end, i think i'd still go CTS.

Any idea as to what the fuel mileage on the Charger might be? I've owned a Dodge V8 before and gas pumps are a good place to meet new people.

If it's going to be for passenger hauling, then the CTS wins. Better interior and I like the looks best out of the bunch.

Engine performance is not as highly ranked in my buying decision when the main goal is passenger comfort and all around daily driving. The CTS covers that in spades.
