WOW

That is slightly less than a base C5.

GM corvette team =

6 speed is also a no cost option now, it was $900 on the C5

I think the C5's base price ($44,635 on the website) included the $800 destination charge...

So it brings it a little closer, but still, ya, not bad.

Yeah, it is going to be a real winner! (not that there was any doubt) I think the pricing was the only question and now that it is answered.

In the current car, is there such a wide gap between the coupe and convertable? I also saw that the power top is 2G's which I guess in not that bad.

Exclamation

Now let me get this straight.

For $43,000 I can get a Corvette that's cheaper than the Lincoln LS with a V8 & the Crossfire SRT, and within a grand or so of a Luxurt Sport V6 CTS, and the Silverado SS or SSR?

And the new Corvette is cheaper than the one it replaced?

That almost places the C6 in the same group as the 300C as cars that's cheaper than you'd think.

Can't argue with that.

Thing is, if you go past the base 1SX, the price jumps fast.

1SX Coupes are projected to be only 5 percent of the total Coupe build-out for MY2005, though.

Remember. It only carries 2 people. And it's $44600.

It's still the best sports car value on the planet.

Related...when the C6 comes out, leftover and used C5s will (I would think) get more affordable for those of us that might want to get one. I've been watching 2002/2003 used Z06 prices for a while now.

Anybody want an NMRA class-leading F/S 99 Cobra?

A base Vette has always been a good deal (just like the base Camaro Z28) but don't plan on finding one of those on the dealers lot that isnt loaded with expensive options and dealer markup for the next 12 months or so.

I remember reading that they switched the standard tranny, although it really don't matter since the optional one is $0

I wonder if the 6 speed auto will cost the same next year?

A base Z51 can be had for $45,740 and should perform about the same as the current Z06 for $6000 less
