What happened to "jump ship" thread at LS1.com?

Well, what happened to that naughty thread over at LS1.com? If you did not already read it, it is too late now. Someone (I won’t mention names) started a thread suggesting that we RR/AX fans all leave for another board because of multiple difficulties LS1.com seems to have. I was going to reply (there were already 6 or 8 who had jumped on board), but just as I did, I got a message saying that I was not authorized to access that thread. So, I will post it here:

I tend to agree with 94bird about the other boards mentioned (I really like the serious nature of CC, but find it somewhat intimidating). Camaroz28.com is where many of started out, but the RR interest seemed to grow at LS1.com and stole away many of us.

There are some nice things about this board, like their moderator/administrator intervention seems less frequent and extreme. The board is always up, nice. And the most helpful feature is that they don’t disable their “Search” function, so you can find old threads easily and don’t re-ask questions that have been answered many times already.

I have never really left Camaroz28.com, but I have spent a lot more time at LS1.com over the last year. I am going to reverse that trend as of today.

I didn't figure the thread would last long.

Stability and consistancy is a plus.

For a laugh, did anyone see the page Tech put up a few minutes ago? A rather humorous dig at the one that came up for LS1.com earlier today.

Where ever it be, let's get it figured out. Here is just as good as any ...

Ah the musical forum day. I haven't logged in here in a while, I miss ye ole CZ28.com! This was the very first F-body message board I stumbled upon back in the day, just haven't posted much since ending up with the LS1.

One thing about this place, it's solid as a rock. Deciding not to host a forum for 30,000+ people on a laptop taped to the bottom of a desk in a co-location network facility has worked out good for them.

I post on LS1 under the sn "Rob's_Z71_LM7" (my truck). I do like the way this board is run much better. I tend to hang around LS1 because it gets so much traffic. Mitch was a great mod over there but I could not stand how the forum revolved around the freaks in AAG. I wish you had stayed as mod, mitch-I don't think you were biased. McRat will probably do fine but I wonder about him since he posts in the AAG often. Corner-Carvers.com would work but it'll take a few of us since most of the posters own fox body mustangs.

Whatever we do, splitting posts between 4 or more message boards will become a PITA for me and my sad dialup connection to check all the time. Hopefully we can end up somewhere as one big happy family. Maybe?

LS1tech.com would be ideal-but almost nobody posts in their autocross forum.

hey, whoa, uummm......how long was i out?!
well i got banned from LS1.com for 1 day for my post. guess i cant get a warning or asked to edit my post before i get banned. seems that was the chance given to others over the last few days, but not me. i've been on that site since 98, thats longer than 99% of the total membership.
anyways, i've always lurked here, just never registered cause i'm an LS1 guy.

here is a copy of what i posted.

this site seems to have issues w/ staying up along w/ recent censorship issues. on top of a total lack of integrity from the owner down to the admin. i would like a place where i can 1) ask dumb questions and not be eaten alive, cause i'm not an engineer by trade. 2) give my honest opinion of a product and not be banned cause it hurts the sponsors feelings. 3) be around other open track / auto-x guys. i kinda want everyones thoughts on this and input. it would be ideal if we could all move to the same place.
here are my sugestions:
LS1tech.com
Opentrackracing.com
Corner-Carvers.com (i just hate the "i walk on water" attitude over there.)

and later in the thread i did agree that this site was a good place to come, but i had overlooked it. sorry.

You were banned Glenn? Damn. Maybe it is as bad as I thought it might be.... Maybe I'll stop going there.

This place is would be a fine replacement I think. As you can see, I've been a member since the Vietnam era.

I go to both here and LS1.com when I make my "rounds" through out an Internet session. I sold my LS1 last month and bought an LT1. Even so, most of the threads here and at LS1 (I only go to the autox/rr forums at both) are suspension and brake-related and my LT1 has LS1 brakes. ...therefore almost every thread is relevant to me.

I plan on continuing to visit both. I'd like to see both boards succeed. I've got no beef with anyone - I just want to participate in groups where others share my interest in autox, open tracking and road racing.

Thanks for the kind words, both here and privately. Sometimes we have to make tough decisions based upon what we see in the mirror.

LT1/LS1 ... does it really matter?

The reason I look at this/these sections is to learn more about driving techniques, suspension tuning, open discussion about parts and the way they work all done in a respectful manner.

The engine doesn't really matter.

We band of gypsys just need to find a place to land and stay there. This place would be fine because there is already a solid base. However, one upside to LS1Tech RR/AX section would be we could all build it up how we wanted it.

CC.com would welcome us all with open arms. Sure, we'd get our asses handed to us occasionally. But that would certainly keep us in check. I much prefer moderation by the masses as opposed to an individual's whim and mood.

From what I've read here and elsewhere, a cross between CC.com and LS1.com, with a smattering of AAG to give it a smack of flavor. We just need an IP address to call home.

Seems like there is a lot more traffic over here than usual.

I have been here for a while and like this site. Only downside is that you cannot post photos (img tags revert to url tags). All bacause some jerk back in '98 posted bad photos in many forums.

I am glad to see the increased flow through this section and I hope to see it stay like that. I really enjoy the information here that people share.
