Which weld for roll cage?

What is the best way to go for welding in a roll cage, MIG, Tig, or ....?

Wanted to know what to look for.

Thanks!

It depends on the material of the cage. A mild steel cage can be MIG welded, whereas a chromoly cage must be TIG welded.

Ya hit the nail right on the head. If you know how to TIG weld well, and are going to use mild steel, TIG it anyway, much better weld quality.
Chrome moly will need to be TIG'ed like grover said, and depending on the thickness of the chrome moly, I would back purge it... ie fill the tube you are welding with gas to help keep the weld non porus.

Will the Tig be good for the plate to the floorpan? The floor and fenderwells are aluminum, I think, and that's what I am worried about. My weld skills are lame, so I am going to find someone to do it.

I looked at Wolfe and liked their stuff, but damn, chrome moly is steep.

Thanks for the input!
