My brakes are acting up (pulls, probably sticky caliper) recently and will need to pay them some attention soon. I really don't want to spend $$ to get me stock braking ability though. My question is this, what are the best brakes that will fit behind stock 16" GTA "lace" wheels. If you have any pricing info that would be helpful too.

The problem with a question like this is that there is no best, only options. In your case just going to an impoved rotor, like Baer eradispeed(SIC) and improved pads may be enough. Certainly would be the least expensive. Or you may want to go with a complete kit. Wilwood, Baer, SSBC, Brembo and many others make kits that will fit your wheels.
Pads and rotors can be a little as a couple fo hundred, while kit can run upwards of $3,000.

 

how about 3rd gen 1LE brakes? Dunno whats involved, and their availability though..
