torque arm

ive done searches and read many opinions. today i found out that i broke my torque arm and need a new one. im posting this here because i have my car lowered. i used hothkis spring but it seems to be lowered about 2" after it setteled. i looke dat the spohn arm and it looks like i might have ground clearance issues. btw i have slp bolt on sfc and they bottom out as it is. so it defanitly cant be lower than them. what is a decent torque arm that i can use and not have too many problems. i have seen the g2 one and i feel that they are way too proud of it

G2. It stops brake induced wheel hop.

the lg one is pretty pricy. how about the random tech one is there anythign wrong with it? it seems to have the same type of end as the lg one but is adjustable and a couple hundred less

I've bought from LG but I think they are a little high. Pretty good stuff though. I could use one too....

Is the LG still 5 bills? That's close to GW Tracklink territory! And without even pinion angle adjustability.
If you just want simple and cheap and don't want a pinion angle adjustment, the Edelbrock is probably the least expensive aftermarket torque arm available. A step up from there would be Random Tech/BMR.

Ramdom Tech

The Random Tech arm is a good torque arm. Alot of autoxers are using them now and the National champ ESP car in 2002 had/has a Random Tech arm on it.

The Spohn is the only one that I know of that will hurt ground clearance.

Random,Edelbrock,BMR,LG,Global West, all should not effect ground clearance.

I am going to build my own. A Spohn length arm with a front mount like the LG/Random Tech arm.

If you build your own and make it the length of the Spohn it won't reach to the transmission to mount where the Random does. If you have that kind of fabrication ability why not buy the Spohn and modify its chassis mount to increase ground clearance?

Because total cash outlay will is much much much less than buying an existing arm.

I don't want to use the trans mount. I want a shorter than stock arm.

So you mean a sliding rod in a poly bushing but located rearward from the stock mounting point? Sounds interesting!

In the world of suspension parts, you get what you pay for.

I've run Eibach, Hotchkis, GW, BMR ... I would've been money ahead buying G2 stuff to begin with.

My opinion is in the world of suspension parts you don't always get what you pay for. There are some very expensive shock setups out there that don't even give you damping adjustments. There are some very expensive torque arms that don't give you the ability to adjust pinion angle. Let's remember that pinion angle will change with ride height since the body and therefore the tranny is moving down while the axle is not. I see no reason one wouldn't want an adjustable arm, even if you set it once and forget it......

I use Random Tech arms. I'm the guy who won a National Championship in ESP with it. It does just as much good for brake hop as any other arm because it's stiffer than stock, just like the other arms. Binding isn't an issue with the Random arm either. The round nose on the arm allows the TA to slip and rotate inside the front bushing as needed.

It's cost effective, it's strong, and it works. YMMV.

That's ok, I needed the extra push anyway, can't get better unless you have a target that's better!!!

I had my mind set on a Spohn, then I saw this post how it affects ground clearance, I will be lowered about 1.3 inches here soon how bad will the clearance be? I wanted a Spohn because it doesn't use the factory mounting location which is supposed to be weak, right?
