Sandman,I like the Pro-kit(got it).I do have to roll slow over speed bumps, slow on incline entries(air dam scraps).I wouldnt have it stock again.
Lots here like Bilstien shocks I have Koni single adjustables, love'em.But a good set of shocks will compliment the springs dramaticaly.Kinda all brands have good traits. From what I read.
Konis are cool if you got $$
On the Konis front shocks, they have a lower adjustment on the plate that holds lower part of spring. Two hieghts to set the plate to,lower or higher(norm.) I picked the lower slot(ring clip) and got every bit of the 1.25"+drop(pro-kit) in front.

Thanks. I had kind of planed on waiting to drop it until i needed now shocks/struts. My car has 43xxx miles on it so i was going to replace the shocks/struts aroud 50000 miles.
But i dont need any think like relocation brackts(not sure what i would relocate though).
Thanks again.

By the way guys, they're shocks on our 4th gen cars, not struts.

This may sound like a dumb question, but what's the difference? Are shocks easier to install than struts?

I always thought Camaros had struts up front.

Also, are control arm relocation brackets necessary?

thanks.

A strut performs two functions. It not only acts as a damper (which a shock does), but it is a component of the suspension geometry as well. So conceptually a car could be driven without a shock, but not without a strut.

Thanks to Silkworm for clearing this up for me a while back.

Control arm relocation is a good thing to do on a lowered car, because it'll get the forces from the axle through the control arm going back in the right direction. Is it "necessary" - no, but it's noticeable in terms of traction for drag launches, and when coming out of a turn.

OK,but we could not drive our car w/o our front shock.

Is a spring/coil concidered "part of the suspension geometry"?

Shock & coil work together as unit, wouldnt the plate on the shock that holds the lower portion of spring"Necssary for suspention geometry" almost then classify the shock as a strut?

The shock/strut in question does have two purposes Dampening and coil/spring holder

Chitons describes them as shock btw,Spring&Shock Absorber Unit

Not really disagreeing

On the front, it's true the shock is providing a seat for the spring, but it isn't a separate point of the geometry.

I'm a bit beyond what I know on this one, sorry for not having a complete explanation.

MacPherson struts don't have spindles or an upper a-arm. Basically, there is a lower control arm and a strut. With our a-arm setup, the shock and spring are purely a damper and spring, since the lower and upper a-arms are the locating devices. The advantage goes to the owners of 4th gens here, since we have an unequal length a-arm front suspension.

This is going to sound really dumb, but is the control are relocation bracket for the front or rear?? Thanks for the responses. If the brackets help comming out of a corner i think ill get them seeing how handling and preformance are the goal. Thanks again.

They go on the rear, and weld to the axle. the back side of the control arms will bolt into these new brackets, instead of where they currently bolt into the axle.
