Sway Bars
Sway Bars
Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a Suspension technique front sway bar. I heard that their's is the biggest sway bar made for our f-bods. Is this true? Also, do you recommend putting the largest one I can find on the rear as well. i'm trying to understand how the different sizes will help in the cornering and I get the basic idea, but I've also heard that it is better to just put on the one in the front and leave the one in the back stock. What do you guys think.
Also, what should I look for in lower control arms? anything in particular? ie adjustable, etc. I was starting to get into the 1/4 mile thing, but I got more interested in AX ing. So I'm trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks again!

I have the Suspension Techniques 35mm bar on the front of my Z28. Since I am running in stock class, I cannot change the rear anyway.
I think that you should first decide what class you want to autocross in (what mods do you currently have) then give Sam a call at stranoparts.com If you have the choice based on your current mods, I suggest that you start in stock. Make each change and see how it feels and you will learn a ton. My Z28 was bone stock last July and I made the following mods, individually, in the following order. This was largely due to budget but it turned out that I learned a ton about what each mod did to the car.
Used sets of Kuhmo Victoracers (and lots of Formula V)
Aggressive front end alignment (max. neg camber, max static positive caster and 1/16 total toe out)
K&N Air Filter
4-pt Harness to keep me planted in the seat
ST 35mm Swaybar
Bilstein HD Rear Shocks
Hawk HP+ Front Brake Pads
Hawk HPS Rear Pads
Koni Single Adjustable Front Shocks (set to 8 stiff out of 10)
SLP Loudmouth Cat-back (gotta have the sound)
Engine/Tranny/Rear End all Red Line or Amsoil
NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
Magnecore Plug Wires
I just did the last 2 because the rules allowed it. That is pretty much all you can do in stock (unless I missed something).
By the way, that bar GREATLY changes the personality of the car. The turn-in is amazingly crisp. IMO, it's a little too big for open tracking but paired with the shocks, the car transitions into turns quite well.
