roll cage/bar

i want to run 4 point belts in my car and was wondering if anyone had experience with the lgmotorsports harness bar, or a jegs 4 ponit roll bar kit for 4th gens. the harness bar is 225 and the jegs 4point bar is only 125. whats the deal

I have the LG Harness bar. It works great for using a harness.

I don't know anything about the jegs bar you listed though.

Harness bars are designed for minimum mods, if any, to the interior for mounting of the seat belt harness and provide only minimal, if any, roll over protection.
The 4 point Jegs is a simple "roll bar" that requirers some modification to the interior. It is also used to mount your harness.
The difference in cost is due to the design requirements and the numbers of bars sold. Most people opt for the roll bar, and Jegs is a volume sales outlet.

A harness bar is not going to help in a roll over, and I have heard a sound argument that having 5-point harness w/o a roll bar can be more lethal than stock seatbelts in a roll over. This is because you are strapped in vertical, and the spine can be crushed.

I have the Lou G. harness bar. Fit and finish on the bar is nice and it bolts into the existing holes with no modification. The front bolts are a little hard to get at, but it can be put in and out without too much hassle. The under seat mounts for the 5th point that come with it SUCK though, I had to modify mine to fit. I'd suggest a 5 point instead of the 4 because of the 4 points have a tendency to ride up (I used 4 of the 5 points while I was waiting on my 5th bar mounts).

No, a harness bar provides NO protection in a roll over, nor is it supposed to. Many people confuse it for a cage though and ask me if it is one. I'm eventually going to go to a full cage, but that's mainly so I can run in the 11's without the track officials bugging me .

I don't buy into that whole argument about it being worse then a stock seatbelt. I mean the only point is that if the roof collapses past the point your head is sticking up, you have no budge room, but even if you did, the force of the ground pushing the roof in and pushing your body by your head will probably kill you anyway. Plus the f-body with the t-bar roof is pretty good at not crushing in too much(seen a lot of rollover pics).
