Please Help With Wheel Deflection!

I installed Bilstein shocks and dms springs all around on my 95 Z28, and I get real bad wheel deflection on the front and rear wheels. What I mean by wheel deflection is for instance when going over reflectors that divide the lanes on the street, the wheels kind of deflect or i get a little wheel hop which is a little harsh and very annoying. Can someone please help me with my problem.

Thanks
JC

Okay, your springs aren't allowing the wheels to follow the bumps in the road. This is rule number one on why you only run as much spring as you need, and no more. The springs are stiffer, ANY stiffer spring will not yield as easily, so instead of the wheel moving, two other thing happen. One, it forces the tires sidewall to become more of the suspension. And two impacts don't get absorbed by the suspension, but get into the body instead.

A second issue is that as time goes on, you'll probably notice a lack of damping. Like has been mentioned about 2000 times, the HD's are not meant to damp lowering springs. They are ok for a while, but never great. And they start borderline, so when they wear at all, they tend to be underdamped. You likely won't see that for a while, but it will happen.

All you can do now is either change springs, or try dropping the tire pressures. That'll help the impact harshness, but will also hurt response and the tire's shape when cornering.

Thanks for your help 01 FS Z28!

What springs do you recommend I get that will give me a similar drop that the dms's gave me, and get rid of the harsh ride. Thanks again for your help.

How much lower is the car now? I tend to use a lot of the LS1 Pro-kits (yes, I know your car is an LT1). I do so because they are some of the lightest lowering springs you can run, but are still 27% rate in front than stock.

It comes to this. The stiffer the spring, the harsher the ride since the wheel doesn't want to yeild to bumps as easily. If you don't mind the car about 1.25-1.5" lower than it was stock, I'd say LS1 Pro-kits.
