Yeah I think I've been to all the links. My regional web site is calclub.com and all I see on the calendar are pro events and even still the majority are in AZ or Vegas.

Is ameture autox seasonal or year-round???? If it's seasonal is it the summer months?

It depends where you are at. In Texas it is most of the year, but in Missouri it is a spring/summer/fall thing.

I'm in Southern California. I also put a message into my regional contact and never heard back. I'm getting frustrated. I wasted about 15 years of not racing and now that I'm ready I can't seem to find anything. AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Hello! I've only been active with my region here in middle Tennessee for a little over a year so I'm no expert. But, I think you'll find that different regions of the SCCA concentrate on different things, some on Club Racing, some on TSD Rallying, some on SoloII, etc.

Our region (TRSCCA.com) for example only does autrcross; we have 24 events this year and one divisional event but we don't do any club racing or rallying (although we have members who are active in those activities...they simply do so with other regions).

Obviously, living in Tennessee I'm not familar with California but I suspect there are regions within reasonable travelig distance that hold SoloII events. If you can't find any through searching the web, don't be afraid to call SCCA national headquarters to see if they can help.

Also, many individual car clubs/organizations hold autocross events and very often use SCCA SoloII rules but those, of course, can usually only be found by finding those organizations.

Bottom line is, don't give up....I think you'll find that autrocross is EXTREEMLY fun and will teach you more about driving skills and handling your car at it's limits than any other activity can (and you can do it without seeing blue lights in your rear-view mirror)

Check out Porsche Club and BMW Club events too. They allow any type of car to compete. (at least in my area they do) They also hate getting beat by a "non-marque" car! Good luck!

How far are you willing to drive. If you wanna come up to Merced and run at Castle Airport there is an event end of April you'd probably enjoy. www.americanauto-x.com

Figured it's kinda far for you, but it is a 2 day event, and it's geared for big V8 cars with pretty fast, wide courses. at the event last weekend I was on the limiter in second gear a couple times, so about 75mph... The Fresno chapter of SCCA SFR also runs at Castle, but the courses are much tighter, better suited for Miata's than Camaro's...

If you make it out, stop by and say hi, I'll be in the white Camaro # 72 in Street Mod.
