Need some adjustable shocks...
Hey guys,
what adjustable shocks out there are decently priced, but work and last well?
I have an MR2 with KYB 4 ways and I don't really like them. They were cheap though.
For heavy Camaro's, what has everyone found to be a great adjustable shock for mostly the street and sometimes the track?

I have been told that KYB's aren't the best build quality nor are long lasting. For this reason, I went with Koni Single Adjustables when making this decision. I think they are the best compromise when compared to the Koni Double Adjustables ($$$). I have also been told by my supplier that and the singles come with a warranty and the doubles do not since they are considered a race-only item.
...even so, my new race car has the Koni double adjustables on it. However, the previous owner paid for them, so why not... The only problem is that I may not be smart enough to adjust them anyway. When I ran Koni single-adjutables, I fiddled with them for a couple of track days and autocrosses and concluded that 8 out of 10 was about right all of the time and left them alone... If you're going to come to that conclusion anyway, maybe Bilstein custom-valved shocks (from Strano) would be the best solution.

I know this car (which is my Dad's car), does need new shocks. The stock ones are shot. We're looking for a good shock that's adjustable so we can correct for understeer/oversteer on the track, and also soften it up for the street.
I was looking at the singles, I just want to hear from more people who have them.

they aren't cheap, but you only need to run them on the front. Sam reccomends koni sa in the front and blistens in the rear. you can use the stock springs and still lower the car about 3/4", if you want.
This car has the SLP springs on it, so we're really not looking to lower it any more. It already sits pretty low.
So only have the adjustables in front. Makes sense, but why is that?
I'm new to this board, so if there is a write up on F-body suspension set ups, let me know.

go here Sam is a guru in this area. He is use this setup on his scca camaro. I believe last season he won all but 4 races. correct he if I'm wrong. I have talking with them about my car and these are the suggestion they have given me. There are alot of guy running this setup and are glad they are.

this is the setup i was given by Sam Stano. The great thing about the Knoi's are: using the SA you can lower the car and still use the stock springs. Which, give you a great ride on the street. The stock spring are great pieces. 2nd, you can adjust the to the ride quality that you want soft to firm. They are expansive, but with these shock you don't need to buy new springs. Which in most case, will give you a much stiffer ride.
We really aren't looking to lower the car any more and we want to keep the SLP springs that are on there now. We just want adjustable shocks.
You said the ideal set up is the adjustable Koni's on the front, and (from what I gather), the non adjustable Blistens in the rear.
If we go with this set up, then we can't soften the car of tighten it. We can only adjust the fronts to compliment the rear.
I must be missing something.
The Bilstens are non adjustable, right?

Steve, it seems to me that you need to thrash out a conversation with someone with experience in these things. The recommendation on calling Sam Strano is the best one I can think of. Phone number at the above link provided by Rob.
yes, you are correct. for what ever reason, this is the set up that sam is use on his camaro. not sure why. I guess he feels it isn't necessary for most applications. as in my case of a daily drive mainly with some track time, that this is the best way to go...
