installed springs/struts and now i have a knock!!!

i installed some SLP springs off a camaro SS. i also installed new front struts at the same time and they are just the SLP take off (DeCarbons). are these shocks not compatable with the springs in installed? i have a serious knocking noise which i can not feel in the steering but i can certainly hear it inside and outside the car when hitting common bumps in the road and even the little cracks across the road causes racket under my car! i hope i don't need to shell out more cash on after market shocks and be out $75 on the take offs.
i don't know much about suspension combinations so i'm hoping you guys can help me,
thanks,
michael.

Did you get that top nut tight enough? I've done that before. Made a similar noise by your description.

*shrug* Just something to check.

you mean the one i would have to remove the entire strut/spring assembly to get to? that crossed my mind. i think it's tight enough but i guess it's possible its not. the reason i am beginning to think it's not a loose nut is that it makes noise on both driver and passenger side. maybe i just didn't torque either side enough though???
i will try to check that if it ever stops raining and will see if that helps. i'm kinda hoping its the new swaybar bushings, spacer and bolt kit i put on. that could cause it to do the same noise on both sides, i think.
what do you think about that?

Yup.

Mine knocked and clunked after my Bilstein install. Right after this I assisted on a similar install with another car. We tightened those all the way down.

I thought this may be the source of my problem so I bit the bullet and took 'em back off. Tightened the nut AT MOST two turns. Presto. Absolutely no noise from the front end.

This was just my car. Your results may vary.

well i figured out the problem. the center of the rubber strut mounts blew out on both sides! the dealer says i had them installed correctly but they have no idea why this happened. when i removed the strut/spring assembly, the spring shot across the garage with the nut still on the top of the strut! i wish i could show pictures of this mount, it's really amazing how it just ripped a new hole through this thing. replacements are not cheap at all, they're like $100 a peice through GM just for a rubber mount.
