how do i tell if the bars are hollow or solid

how do i tell if my sways are hollow or solid without removing them.

i forgot the formula for Pi (maybe i will go to my 25th and see if any teachers are there that would know ). is there an easy way to measure the diameter (besides looking at the receipt which i dont have)?

Not sure how to tell hollow from solid without removing it to see how much it weighs. There is a dramatic weight difference between the two.

For diameter you can take a piece of string and wrap it aroud the bar one time and then measure that length.
32mm = 3.96"
35mm = 4.33"

Here is the math I used: 32mm/25.4mm per inch = 1.26"x3.14(Pi) = 3.96" circumfrance.

You can usually look at the ends of the bar and tell. Hollow bars have a seam where the ends of the tube are crushed down. Solid bars are well, solid....

Another way to measure the diameter... grab an adjustable crescent wrench and tighten it down around the bar. Pull it off and measure it. Or if you have a set of open end wrenches, find the one that fits around the bar...

tempting as that is, this is my station/commuter car! before I order anything i wanna know i am getting the bugs out of the rear ride.

BTW, it rides much better with the salad shooters than it did with the 17" SS/SLPs. or maybe im just getting used to the solid axle.

i have to confer with the minister of finance (aka she who must be obeyed) before i order anything.
