handling

I was reading a book called Race Car Engineering & Mechanics by Paul Van Valkenburgh and he seems to suggest using as large an anti roll bar as possible and a softer spring to get the roll angle as low as possible, seems this would make the ride more tolerable as well since the springs are softer. Are there dissadvantages to this and besides very firm ride what are the dissadvantages to stiff spring small anti roll bar?
