Question edelbrock shocks

Has any body heard anything about these? Does anyone have them? My dad's friend has some on his c5 and he loves them.

Most of what I've seen indicates that they are primatily oriented more toward the off-road stuff, with an inertia valve that can distinguish between the vehicle body rising and the wheel falling into a hole.

Supposedly some vehicles that these shocks are available for are valved more for pavement use. Try poking around Edelbrock's site starting from here: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/index.html

I've used IAS shocks on several muscle car applications (67-81 Camaros, Chevelles, early Mustangs) they work quite well for street cars. The firmness of the shock feels good, and the interia valve does allow a little more insulation against pot-holes ect.
I have not tried these on a late model f-body yet.
I would not consider these shocks for a serious race application, the variable-rate caused by the interia valve has the potential to do some very strange things at the track.

The front set comes with a coil spring that is matched to it and has an adjustable ride height setup. They also offer rear shocks and the matching spring for them is optional.

Good luck finding very much specific on them. I called edelbrock a while back and they didn't have a clue about them, (Other than what I just said.)

Thumbs down

I have some experience with them-mostly from use on trucks and stuff-no they're not good off-road . Anyways they aren't built that well (all four have failed on our truck) and other owners have had similar problems. They claimed to have fixed that but I'll never touch another edelbrock suspension product again. The valve works based upon velocity and inertia. Fast movements result in the valve opening (becomes softer) and slow movements it stays mostly closed (stiffer). The danger is hitting a bump in the road during a long sweeping turn-it could go from firm to soft in a second.
